Serving others is always important, and this year you can make it a family tradition with a 12 Days of Service family advent! Read on to find some great ideas that are sure to spread some holiday cheer.

How often do we tell our kids that the holidays are about giving, and not just receiving?

And (even more important) how do we intentionally walk that out during the holiday season?

I know I’m guilty of talking the talk, but not always walking the walk. I let excuses creep in, our schedules get too busy, and have not always made serving others outside of our family a top priority.

As a homeschool mom, I have an opportunity to not only teach my kids about the holidays and our own traditions, but to use our homeschool to help cultivate an attitude of serving others in their hearts. That means I need to be intentional about the activities and experiences I choose this time of year.

Service work can often be left out and forgotten amidst the busyness of book work and other school projects. This season, I’m committing to being more intentional with the messages I am teaching by working service into our homeschool – and you can, too!
