If you’ve ever felt like your homeschool plans are scattered everywhere…you’re definitely not alone!
I’m the kind of person who really likes to see the big picture. I want to know that what we’re doing now is actually moving us in the right direction for where we want to be in a few years. (And yes, I try to hold those plans loosely—but having a plan is so helpful!)
When I first started homeschooling, I had so many different places where I was keeping track of things.
I had notes in my phone with details about curriculum we used, activities we did, and even reminders about curriculum sales. I wanted to remember what worked so I’d have a starting place for my younger kids later on.
Then when it came time to plan a new year, that usually meant a completely different system. Sometimes I’d use my phone, sometimes a notebook, sometimes a Google Doc—basically whatever was closest when the thought came to me.
And then there were all the curriculum ideas I didn’t want to forget. Every time I heard about something I might want to use someday, it got saved somewhere…in some app…that I would hopefully remember to check later.
So I was keeping track of everything—but it definitely didn’t feel organized.
And that didn’t feel like a huge problem at first…until my kids started getting older.
Because at that point, I realized I wasn’t just picking curriculum for the year anymore.
I was trying to think ahead for high school, make sure we were covering everything we needed, keep track of grades and credits, and still remember all those curriculum ideas for the future.
And I didn’t have one place to see all of that together.
I had systems…just not a good system.

What I Was Using Before (and Why It Wasn’t Working)
I ended up trying a spreadsheet to try to organize everything.
I had rows for each year and columns for each subject. I used it to map out high school plans for my older kids, and I even started using it to save curriculum ideas for my youngest.
And it did help…to a point. But the more I used it, the more I realized it just wasn’t built for everything I needed and was trying to use it for.
There were so many things I wanted to track and do that just didn’t work well in that format.
So…We Built Something Better
At that point, I finally went to my husband Josh—he’s a software engineer—and said, “I think I need something better than this.”
I had this idea in my head of what would actually make this easier…something that could hold all of these pieces in one place and let me really see the big picture.
So instead of trying to keep making my system work, we decided to build something that actually fit what I needed.
And as we started working on it, it quickly became clear—if this was helpful for me, there were probably other homeschool moms trying to juggle all of this too.
So that’s how the Homeschool Curriculum Planner started!
What Makes This Different From a Typical Homeschool Planner
One thing I want to be really clear about…
This is not a traditional homeschool planner.
It’s not for planning your daily lessons or your weekly schedule (there are already great tools out there for that).
This is designed specifically for:
- Planning your curriculum across multiple years
- Organizing everything by subject and student
- Tracking grades and high school credits
- Keeping curriculum ideas in one place
- Creating transcripts and reports when you need them
It’s really about helping you see the big picture of your homeschool.

Why This Has Been So Helpful for Me
What I’ve loved most about using this is just how much simpler everything feels.
Instead of wondering where I wrote something down or trying to piece things together from different places, I can just open one dashboard and see it all!
It’s especially helpful as we think about high school—but even with younger kids, it’s been such a great place to store ideas and plan ahead.
If You Want to Try It
You can create a free account and see if it’s a good fit for your homeschool.
And if you want access to the additional features—like transcripts, reports, and more—we’ve kept the Pro version really affordable as a one-time fee.
I’d Love to Hear From You
If you’ve been struggling with homeschool planning, I’d love to know—what has been the hardest part for you?
Or if you’ve already tried the planner, let me know what’s been helpful, or what features you’d love! We’re going to be continually updating it to better serve the homeschool community.
