Homeschool Curriculum Organization Made Simple

If you’ve ever felt like your homeschool plans are scattered everywhere…you’re definitely not alone!
I’m the kind of person who really likes to see the big picture. I want to know that what we’re doing now is actually moving us in the right direction for where we want to be in a few years. (And yes, I try to hold those plans loosely—but having a plan is so helpful!)
When I first started homeschooling, I had so many different places where I was keeping track of things.
I had notes in my phone with details about curriculum we used, activities we did, and even reminders about curriculum sales. I wanted to remember what worked so I’d have a starting place for my younger kids later on.
Then when it came time to plan a new year, that usually meant a completely different system. Sometimes I’d use my phone, sometimes a notebook, sometimes a Google Doc—basically whatever was closest when the thought came to me.
And then there were all the curriculum ideas I didn’t want to forget. Every time I heard about something I might want to use someday, it got saved somewhere…in some app…that I would hopefully remember to check later.
So I was keeping track of everything—but it definitely didn’t feel organized.
And that didn’t feel like a huge problem at first…until my kids started getting older.
Because at that point, I realized I wasn’t just picking curriculum for the year anymore.
I was trying to think ahead for high school, make sure we were covering everything we needed, keep track of grades and credits, and still remember all those curriculum ideas for the future.
And I didn’t have one place to see all of that together.
I had systems…just not a good system.

What I Was Using Before (and Why It Wasn’t Working) 📄
Like many homeschool moms, I eventually created a spreadsheet.
I built rows and columns for subjects and school years and started mapping out high school plans. It helped for a while, but the more I used it, the more limitations I found.
I wanted to track curriculum choices, credits, grades, activities, attendance, lesson plans, and future ideas.
The spreadsheet wasn’t really designed for all of that…I wanted something that could connect all those pieces together.
So…We Built Something Better 💻
At that point, I finally went to my husband Josh—he’s a software engineer—and said, “I think I need something better than this.”
I had a pretty clear picture of what I wanted:
- A place to plan multiple years at once (and see the big picture!)
- A way to organize courses by student and subject
- A system for tracking grades and credits
- An easy way to create transcripts and reports
- A place to keep curriculum ideas from getting lost
As we started building it, we realized we probably weren’t the only homeschool family facing these challenges.
So that’s how the Homeschool Curriculum Planner was born!
What Makes Homeschool Curriculum Planner Different 🤔
One thing I want to be clear about:
This isn’t just another homeschool planner (I know, there are a lot of those out there!).
This is designed to help homeschool families plan, track, and document their entire homeschool journey—from elementary years all the way through high school graduation.
With Homeschool Curriculum Planner, you can:
- Plan courses and curriculum across multiple years
- Organize everything by student and subject
- Track grades and high school credits
- Monitor graduation requirements
- Create transcripts and academic reports
- Log attendance records if you need them for state requirements
- Track instructional hours (again, if you need them!)
- Access a built-in gradebook
- Build and manage lesson plans
- Plan out your homeschool lessons weekly (and share with your students via a student portal!)
- Keep curriculum ideas and resources organized in one place
What I love most is being able to see both the big picture and the day-to-day details without jumping between multiple tools. This can do it all!
No Subscription Required 🙌
One thing that makes Homeschool Curriculum Planner different from many homeschool apps is our pricing model.
We believe homeschool families already have enough monthly subscriptions.
That’s why our Pro version is available with a one-time payment instead of a recurring subscription. Pay once and keep using it—no monthly fees required.
Once you have the Pro version, you’ll have access to available upgrades (all offered as one-time payments as well!) in case you need them…so you’re only paying for what you’ll actually use.
Why This Has Been So Helpful for Me
What I’ve loved most is the peace of mind!
Instead of wondering where I wrote something down or trying to remember which spreadsheet contains what information, I can open one dashboard and see everything in one place.
It’s especially valuable during the high school years when transcripts, credits, and graduation planning become important—but it’s also incredibly helpful for younger students because you can start organizing and planning long before high school arrives.
