Each year, I have the best intentions of putting together handmade gifts or treats for our neighbors, friends, and coaches.

The past couple of years, thinking about it has been about as far as I’ve gotten.

Maybe you can relate? You want to show your appreciation and spread some Christmas joy, but life gets in the way.

You don’t purchase a gift in time. Or you get in your head about not giving the perfect gift, or you don’t want to bake yet another batch of Christmas cookies like everyone else.

So you don’t do anything.

Well, this year can be different! If you need an easy, fast homemade seasonal gift to pull together that anyone can use, I’ve got you covered.

This Gingerbread Man Soap Craft is perfect to make with your kids this Christmas! With just 5 simple ingredients, it will quickly become a new favorite tradition.

With simple ingredients and steps, this craft is a no-brainer solution that even the kids can help you whip up.

An Easy and Practical Homemade Gift

Some of my favorite gifts in the past have been homemade. Giving a homemade gift lets the recipient know you put extra thought and care into making something for them.

Aside from being more meaningful, a homemade gift is also often less expensive to make than purchasing something.

Now, making soap sounds like it might be complicated, but it’s really super simple!

This Gingerbread Man Soap recipe has a wonderful ginger and cinnamon scent, and is perfect for anyone to try, even if you’re a beginner and have never made soap before.

How to Make the Gingerbread Man Soap Craft

Your kids are going to love helping you make these cute handmade soaps!

This recipe will make 6 bars of gingerbread soap that you can easily package and give as a festive Christmas gift. They’re also the perfect stocking stuffer!

What You’ll Need

To make this Gingerbread Man Soap, you’ll need 5 simple tools and ingredients: soap base, a silicone soap mold, ginger, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

Most likely, the only items you’ll need to purchase are the soap base and the mold!

You can purchase the soap base on Amazon, but they are less expensive at Hobby Lobby.

Here are the silicone soap molds I used for the gingerbread men. And honestly, if gingerbread men aren’t your jam, there are other choices for seasonal soap molds! You might even have fun with your kids experimenting with the recipe and trying new scents with essential oils or fragrance oil the next time.

You might want to be the one to cut up the soap base, but allow your kids to help measure and prep the other three ingredients.

Instructions

1. Take half of the soap base from the container and cut into pieces.

Place the soap base in a microwave safe container and heat according to package directions.

Using half of the base will give you 6 bars of soap, which will fill the mold I mentioned above.

I recommend using a batter bowl with a spout if you have one (it will make the soap easier to pour into the molds).

2. Add spices and vanilla and whisk to blend.

Once the soap is melted, try to work quickly as it will begin to harden immediately around the edges of the bowl.

Let the kids help to dump all of the measured ingredients into the melted soap.

If the soap has begun to harden, go ahead and pop it back into the microwave to reheat for about 10 seconds.

3. Pour soap base into the molds and allow soap to rest for at least 45 minutes before moving.

Now the fun part! Carefully pour the mixture into the molds and wait patiently for them to dry.

Once the soap is set, pop them out of the mold to get read to package.

Your kids will love seeing the finished product (aren’t they cute?).

How to Package Your Gingerbread Man Soap Gifts

A fun way to package these gifts would be to pick up a couple of cheap soap dishes (try these soap holders or get a little fancier with these bamboo options).

Put the soap on one of the dishes and wrap it in a Christmas cellophane bag. You can also put the soap right in the cellophane bags (without a soap dish).

These adorable gingerbread men make a great coach or teacher gift and will become a holiday favorite tradition to make. Who do you think would love getting one of these this season?
