We’re 46 weeks into our series of praying for our homeschools – I’m so thankful you are joining me! You can learn more about the series here. We’ll pray about a new area of our homeschool journey each week and dig into God’s Word with daily devotional reflections.

Before I ever began blogging or creating homeschool resources, I got my start in the online world with a little handmade jewelry business I ran for about five years. One of the most popular features I offered was custom engraving—and without fail, the most requested inscription was Philippians 4:13.

Over and over again, this was the verse people chose to wear close to their hearts:

“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13

It’s easy to see why this verse means so much to so many. It’s hope-filled. Comforting. Empowering. It reminds us that in Christ, we have access to a strength far beyond our own. Whether someone is facing a medical diagnosis, walking through heartache, or simply trying to get through a difficult season, this verse is an anchor.

And it should be an anchor for us as homeschooling moms, too—especially on the days that feel long, messy, or overwhelming.

Are We Actually Living Like Philippians 4:13 Is True?

I’ve asked myself this question many times:
Am I actually living in the reality of this verse… or am I just reciting it?

Because if I’m honest, some days it feels like I’m climbing a mountain with a backpack full of bricks. Homeschooling, parenting, cooking, cleaning, disciplining, organizing, keeping everyone alive and fed—it’s a lot. And my nature is to slip quickly into self-reliance.

I tell myself things like:

  • I should be able to handle this.
  • I just need to push through.
  • I can figure this out if I try harder.

But the truth is… I wasn’t designed to carry it all alone.
None of us were.

Philippians 4:13 isn’t telling us to grit our teeth and be superheroes.
It’s telling us the opposite:
We can face everything life throws at us because Christ is the one strengthening us—not because we’re strong enough on our own.

That means the hard math lessons, the sibling conflicts, the recurring toddler meltdowns, the late-night planning sessions, the days we doubt whether we’re doing enough…
He is enough for all of it.

What It Looks Like to Lean on His Strength

So what does this look like practically in our homeschools?

  • Stopping to pray in the middle of the chaos, even if it’s just a whispered “Lord, help me…”
  • Asking Jesus to lead, instead of trying to gather more willpower.
  • Letting Him define what’s important, not our overflowing to-do lists.
  • Resting in His wisdom, instead of trying to plan everything perfectly.

It means inviting Him into the moment—right there in the kitchen, on the couch with the kids, during the math struggle, or while breaking up the fifteenth argument of the day.

This isn’t about striving for more strength.
It’s about surrendering to the strength that is already ours in Christ.

A Prayer for This Week

Heavenly Father,

Homeschooling can be so challenging and overwhelming. There are many days when I don’t feel that I have it in me to tackle everything on my list or manage all that demands my attention. Too often I rely on my own strength, and that always leaves me drained and discouraged.

But You remind me through Philippians 4:13 that I don’t have to do this alone. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and I’m choosing to believe that truth this week. When I feel weary, help me pause and remember that You are my source of strength. Don’t let me fall into the trap of thinking I must carry all of this alone.

As I move through this week, guide me to seek Your strength in both the big and small moments—whether I’m teaching a difficult subject, navigating sibling conflict, or simply managing the day-to-day. Give me the peace that comes from trusting You fully, and help me surrender my plans to Your will.

Thank You for Your faithfulness and for the strength You provide so freely. Remind me to call on You when I feel weak and to rest in the truth that I am never alone in this journey. Help me bring You glory in everything I do and teach my children to lean on You as well.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

Lean Into Christ This Week

As we step into this new week, remember:
You were never meant to do this in your own strength.

Christ is already equipping you—strengthening, sustaining, and guiding you through every part of homeschooling and motherhood. Even the hard parts. Even the unexpected parts. Even the parts you don’t feel prepared for.

And because of His strength, you can do all things He calls you to do.

You’re not doing this alone—and you never have been.
