As my children get older, I often find myself searching for the best Bible study topics for moms. Coming in strong second are searches for specific prayers for them, too. I suppose this is God’s way of refining me in certain areas because He knows me so well.

He knows that there are hard days where I genuinely struggle in the mama area…and maybe you do too.

Admitting the Hard Stuff

It’s not easy to admit when we struggle, am I right? It can be much easier to stay silent about our motherhood hiccups, but it typically doesn’t help us at all (in fact, it can make us more bitter towards ourselves).

Sure, my husband knows what I struggle with because he lives with me. But to admit to others the deep issues I face in parenting can be so tough! The bigger picture, though, is how much harder it can be for me to admit these issues and surrender them to God.

Yes, He knows. But, what I’ve come to learn is that there is freedom in confessing to Him, and then praying and asking for His answer and rope of help. This is where our daily intentional Bible study comes in, and where I hope this list of Bible study topics will be helpful to you as well.

Do you sometimes get stuck when trying to figure out where to begin during your Bible study time? This list of 65 Bible study topics for moms will ensure you always have an area to focus on.

Bible Study Topics for Moms

I like to zero in on certain topics and study them as deep as I can take them. It’s not always easy…but it’s necessary to know what God has to say about any given topic. His Word has a lot to say about how we can live more like Christ, and be trained in righteousness.

To hold myself accountable in this area (and give myself a starting point for days where I just didn’t know where to begin), I started brainstorming a list of Bible study topics that would be great to cover.

By the time I ended the brainstorming session and research, I had a whopping sixty-five Bible study topics written down.

The SOAP Bible Study Method

When studying these topics, it’s so important to not only read God’s Word, but think through how you will apply the truths you read to your life and live them out. I love using the SOAP method for this, as it really helps me dig deeper into Bible study topics.

The word SOAP is an acronym for:

  • S: Scripture
  • O: Observation
  • A: Application
  • P: Prayer
SOAP Bible Study Method

First, you’ll choose and read a passage of scripture about the topic you’re studying and note what it is saying to you.

Then, examine the same passage and write down your observations. Note the main points and ideas, and what stood out to you most in this passage.

The next step involves meditating and writing down how to apply this passage in your life. What are the different promises, instructions, or encouragement the Lord is speaking to you as you read. How will this scripture change you?

Lastly (and most importantly), pray for any changes that need to occur in your life, and for God to help you. Talk about a game changer!

Topic Studies Using the SOAP Method

One suggestion for using this method is to choose one topic to focus on for the entire month, and then study a different scripture passage each day using the SOAP method.

You can find a template to use as you journal through the SOAP method in your Bible study as a part of my Bible Study Companion printable. I also have a sheet in there for a more targeted word study, which doesn’t lend well to studying Biblical principles but can be great for studying specific words.
