I am so excited to share this printable with you this week! If you are wanting to share a fun surprise with your children for Valentine’s day, this sheet of clues is a great way to help them be the detectives and follow the clues to their surprise.
Read on for my Valentine’s scavenger hunt idea and free printables, which are a great option for kids of all ages to enjoy this holiday. And after they complete this fun activity, they may be inspired to make their own scavenger hunt for the next one!

How to Do a Valentine’s Scavenger Hunt
This free printable Valentine scavenger hunt idea I’m sharing includes a series of clues that you’ll hide around your house. Give your kids the first clue to start, and it will lead them to the next clue. In the last spot, at the end of the hunt, you’ll hide your prize!
What I love about this set of clues is they are sure to have your children scurrying all over the house trying to find their prize. The clues should work in any home; I tried to make them sort of generic so they would fit with any home.
These clues are also easy enough to follow that your children won’t get frustrated, but challenging enough to keep the game exciting. Older kids and younger kids alike can get in on it and have a great time!
Don’t be too quick to jump in and correct your child if they get the clue wrong. In fact it can be a great learning experience when they just know the right answer and run all the way there to find no new clue. Just reassure them, re-read the clue, and ask them to think about what else the clue might describe.
Valentine’s Scavenger Hunt Final Prize
What should you put at the end of the scavenger hunt? It’s totally up to you!
It can be as simple as a box of chocolate or other Valentine’s candy, or a more elaborate special treat like a Valentine’s gift.
If candy isn’t their thing, some fun ideas would be a new board game, or a new Lego set to put together as a family.
In the past, I have put a little gift bag on the table for my kids to find in the morning; I usually include a card and some Valentine’s candy, and maybe a small toy. I’m looking forward to using these cards this year for something a little different!

Here are the clues included in this great activity. Use them all for the Valentine’s Scavenger Hunt, or pick the ones that work best for your home:
- A loving cupid left these clues behind. Follow the path, a lovely treat you will find.
- That clue was a little tricky, so happy you figured out the riddle. Now follow the path that leads to where you take a bath.
- This hunt is full of clues, with surprises just for you. Search for your next clue, where you keep your best pair of shoes.
- Look out for cupid, he’s so smart, his clue is in the shape of a heart (hide in a Valentine’s-themed decoration you might have in your home!)
- After bedtime stories are read, this is where you lay your head.
- The smell of flowers fill the air, your next clue is under a chair.
- To locate more clues you must, the next clue is waiting for you to where you might bake a pie crust.
- You’re halfway through, and isn’t it fun? Go to where shirts are stacked when the laundry is done.
- Don’t be slow, be quick as a wink. Go look under the kitchen sink.
- Find your next little note where you keep your coat.
- You’re doing great, this is a breeze! Hurry to get the next clue because it might freeze.
- Feel snug as a bug, to find your gift you must give Mom and Dad a big hug.
I just love that last clue!

I love this!! What a great way to entertain while also keeping them busy and using their brains!! I definitely like this type of scavenger hunt better than “find this…”!! Is there any way this could be edited to be used in a church instead of a house?? Even if not, I’m still going to try to utilize some of these! Thank you for sharing!!!!
Thank you Brandi! I love the idea of doing one for a church – I will keep that in mind and let you know if I come up with anything!
Such cute ideas. We don’t do much for valentine’s with the kids here in Scotland but this would be great, especially as we’re still in lockdown!
I am so excited about this! One of my favorite memories from Valentine’s Day as a kid was my mom doing a scavenger hunt for me. I have found it too intimidating to try and make one up with 4 littles 7 and under, but now I can make this happen for them! Thank you!
Gloria, I’m so glad!! Thank you for stopping by, I hope your kids love this <3
I did this today with my 7 year old daughter and she LOVED it! So much fun than just handing her a gift. Thank you so much for the great resource!! ❤️ Happy Valentine’s Day!!
I’m so glad! Thank you Elizabeth, hope you had a great Valentine’s Day!
