When we think of lessons from the Bible, the one story that centers around the importance of being thankful is the story of Jesus and the Ten Lepers, in Luke chapter 17.

The Ten Lepers Story

Children listen to the story of how Jesus healed ten lepers, but only one turned back to thank Him and praise God for healing him. Jesus even points out that He did heal all ten lepers, but only one returns to show gratitude.

We know when Jesus says anything in the Bible, it’s recorded for us to take note and pay attention.

In addition to the workbook pages, children can play a simple Memory Match game featuring nine ways you can say “Thank You” in different languages.

For best results, I would recommend printing the workbook pages on white multi-purpose paper, but print the Memory Match cards on white cardstock. If you can laminate the cards, all the better. The cards will last longer, and repetition will help your child remember the nine different ways to say thank you without any effort.

Expand on the workbook by spending time as a family, in prayer, thanking God for the people, places, things, and experiences in your family’s lives. Every blessing-big or small- is worthy of our gratitude.

Use the story as a reminder to choose to be like that one grateful leper who came back to thank Jesus.

This workbook would be an excellent resource to share with friends, family, and/or neighbors not just around the Thanksgiving holidays but also throughout the year.
