Initially, I planned to reuse Singapore Math with my upcoming first grader—partly because it’s familiar and already on our shelf!

Things to Note
While this program covers all essential first-grade topics, it doesn’t include a dedicated unit on money or coins. While that’s not a concern for our family—it’s something we can easily supplement—it’s worth mentioning for families looking for in-depth money lessons at this stage.
Comparing Generations to Other Programs
If you’ve used programs like Singapore Math, you’ll notice that Generations takes a slower, steadier approach. It’s not as rigorous or fast-paced, but it is thoughtful, consistent, and full of built-in review.
Rather than emphasizing mental math or tricky word problems early on, it focuses on mastery through repetition, real-life connection, and faith-based reflection. For children who benefit from more time to absorb and apply math concepts, this could be a welcome alternative.
