If you have been around the homeschool block for a while, you’ve likely heard about SchoolhouseTeachers.com. They are often recommended as a Christian-based, one stop-shop for homeschool curriculum for the whole family that many use and love.
And if you are brand new to homeschooling, finding your own curriculum, and maybe a little overwhelmed? I think SchoolhouseTeachers.com is a great option for you for many reasons.
I’m sharing the complete inside scoop and my honest Schoolhouse Teachers review in this post so you can see all they have to offer and help you decide if it’s a good fit for your homeschool.

After spending some time with the available resources, it’s clear to me that SchoolhouseTeachers.com truly equips families to homeschool confidently.
For the past couple of years, we have been using an all-in-one curriculum because it fits our homeschooling and learning styles really well. But there are many different homeschooling styles, and SchoolhouseTeachers.com is a great fit for families looking for a new way to customize a homeschool plan, tailored to meet a variety of interests and learning styles in their home.

What is SchoolhouseTeachers.com?
Let’s start with what SchoolhouseTeachers.com is not – they are not an online school, which is a misconception I had when I first heard about them.
SchoolhouseTeachers.com is a curriculum website, a curation of independent homeschool resources created by hundreds of vetted lesson designers. In addition to homeschool curriculum for preschool through 12th grade, they also offer help with homeschool planning, recordkeeping, and organizing.
I loved reading about the beginnings of this company: a homeschool mom (Gena Suarez) was selling used homeschool curriculum on eBay, and began getting a lot of questions about homeschooling from customers. The questions led her to start an email newsletter, which eventually turned into printed newsletters and then The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine (you can read Gena’s story here).
In 2012, the magazine’s producers saw another need they could fill in the homeschool community by providing an online curriculum platform. Thus, SchoolhouseTeachers.com was born!
The website aims to provide everything you could need for homeschooling in one spot, and it’s constantly growing and adding more helpful curriculum and resources.
Favorite SchoolhouseTeachers.com Features
Here are 10 of my favorite features of SchoolhouseTeachers.com, and why I think it’s worth your consideration for homeschool curriculum.
1) One membership covers all your kiddos
That’s right – one membership for all kids, all grades, from Pre-K through high school. You get it all. This is great news for large homeschool families looking to save some money on curriculum.
SchoolhouseTeachers.com is subscription-based, so you can pay monthly or save with a yearly subscription.
They really make it affordable for homeschooling families, and run multiple sales and specials throughout the year to help you save even more (see the current special at the end of this post).
2) Variety of classes to choose from
With over 400 classes offered from PreK to High School, there is truly something for every student.
SchoolhouseTeachers.com offers traditional core classes all kids need, plus interest-led, elective options. And there’s quite a variety! In addition to math, language arts, history, and science courses, students can learn how to create a business plan, play violin, speak Latin, and design web games. High schoolers can take home economics. They even have options for physical fitness courses the entire family can enjoy together, and an amazing range of music lessons for preschool through high school students.
If you have ever worried about how you’ll teach something you don’t understand, this is a great way to outsource.
And, if you are new to homeschooling and wondering how to know exactly what to teach, SchoolhouseTeachers.com has you covered with their Scope and Sequence resource. This guide lays out what the general requirements are for each grade and subject area, and they show you which of their classes will fill those requirements.
3) Plenty of learning options
There are class options for every learning style, and offered in multiple formats. You can find lessons that are text-based (information is presented in a downloadable PDF), video lessons, and audio-based, depending on how your child learns best.
Some have asked if there are any resources for students with special needs. While SchoolhouseTeachers.com does not have courses that are specifically marked for special needs homeschool learners, you have the ability to adapt and change classes easily to meet the needs of your child.
If you want to use SchoolhouseTeachers.com for your complete curriculum, you certainly can! Otherwise, you might consider using it as a supplement, as some courses vary in length and will not take the entire year to complete.
4) Easy prep
SchoolhouseTeachers.com is perfect for busy moms (and aren’t we all busy) and moms that work from home because they’ve made prep work really easy for the courses.
Along with some great planning resources, there is a suggested lesson plan for each course that breaks it down by weeks and days.
These lesson plans are in an editable PDF format, so you can print them out if you prefer, or you can save them to your computer or Google Drive and have your student check off the lessons as they go.

Another way they make prepping for your school year easy is by offering “Box Curriculum Sets” that pulls together all content you might need, sorted by grade level. So you can, for example, view the 6th Grade “Box” and have a curriculum plan laid out for all of your subjects for that year.
These school boxes really take the guesswork out of piecing together your own material, and give you a good place to start in your planning process.
(Note: these are not physical sets that are shipped to you, just a complete package of curriculum materials in one nice neat place online).

5) Easy to customize
Once you have your membership, you have all of the resources at your fingertips so it’s super easy to customize your child’s learning experience.
No more wasted materials you spent money on that aren’t working out. If a class isn’t the right fit, you have lots of others to choose from!
None of the classes are live, so you’re not confined to a schedule, and your kids can work at their own pace – that makes it even easier to jump into one mid-year if necessary.
As far as customizing for specific learning styles, SchoolhouseTeachers.com makes it easy to filter by different components when you search for classes. You can easily see which classes have audio or video aspects, downloadable text, apply only to high school, and more.
6) Homeschool recordkeeping tools
SchoolhouseTeachers.com has partnered with Applecore, which is an online recordkeeping tool. You can use it to track attendance, grades, create report cards, and more, and all subscribers receive an Applecore membership.
If you’re on a monthly subscription, you’ll receive a free silver Applecore membership, while yearly subscribers receive an upgraded gold membership (the gold membership will be helpful if you are homeschooling a high schooler because you can use it to create a transcript).
7) Saves space in your “homeschool room”
There are no textbooks to buy! (I’m sure you’ll find use for your bookshelves in many other ways thought). All courses are either online courses or provided as a downloadable PDF, which might save you some shelf space.
Depending on the course, you may have some additional supplies you need to buy, but that will be outlined ahead of time. And if your student doesn’t like to read on the computer, you may still decide to print out some of the curriculum as needed – it’s still a great option to have.
8) Extra activities for homeschoolers
If you’re worried about any “school-ish” things your homeschooler might miss out on, SchoolhouseTeachers.com has options for this, too.
You’ll notice an Activity Calendar on your Member Dashboard which will list member-only activities as they come up. For example, as I write this there is a PreK – 12 Virtual Art and Photography Fair kids can submit artwork to and win an award.
9) Additional support
Focused Learning Centers are available on the platform to provide extra support when needed in a variety of areas.
When you click on a specific area you’re struggling in, you will immediately get a list of courses and articles that will help you on your journey and teach your kids to the best of your ability.
Looking for career guidance for your teen? Support for your Charlotte Mason inspired homeschool? More materials for your hands-on learner? Preschool guidance? There’s a Focused Learning Center for each of these, and much more.
10) Don’t forget Mom & Dad
Finally, did you know that SchoolhouseTeachers.com has courses for Moms and Dads, too?
Homeschooling is a hard gig! And sometimes us parents just need the extra support, reassurance, and motivation.
Parents will enjoy courses on how to homeschool from those who have been in their shoes, be encouraged with many Bible study options, and find classes on marriage and parenting aimed to make your homeschooling journey easier and more fulfilling.
SchoolhouseTeachers.com Membership Bonuses
As if all of the above weren’t enough of a reason to join, there are a few more member-exclusive offerings you should know about.
Planning Tools
Every member receives the Schoolhouse SmartMama™ Planner, which is in an editable PDF format you can either print out or use digitally.
I love the devotionals in this homeschool planner, and the special holidays listed in the calendar – they all appear as clickable links so you can learn more about that specific holiday! You’ll also appreciate the interactive budget feature, transcript creator, and the ability to record attendance, books read, chores, and prayer requests right in the planner.
A second planning option is the Custom Schedule Builder, which is basically a planner you can use for your students to help them keep track of their schedule. Again, you have the option to print this out or save paper and use it online (it’s editable as well).
The best part about using this digitally, I think, is the ability to insert links directly to the courses you want your kids to do. It’s such an easy way to share with your kids their assignments for each day.
The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine
Remember the magazine I told you about up above that began all of this? It is still printed quarterly, and all SchoolhouseTeachers.com members receive a print subscription for free!
Meal Planning Help
As a busy homeschool mom who struggles with decision fatigue, this was another one of my favorite finds. Under the resources tab of your member dashboard, there is a monthly menu with an entire year of recipes laid out for you.
The monthly menus aren’t all lunch and dinner recipes; there are some snacks and desserts thrown in there as well. But I love knowing that if I’m drawing a blank on what to cook and none of our regular recipes sound good, I can find something tried and true right at my fingertips when I’m finished lesson planning.
Homeschool Community
Another perk for parents is the opportunity for fellowship during Members’ Zoom Chats and the regular Hey, Mama! Members’ Lounge.
The Zoom Chats cover helpful homeschool topics (such as how to incorporate art into your lesson planning), and you’ll find lots of tips, encouragement, giveaways and more in the Hey, Mama! Members’ Lounge.
Extensive Video Library
As a member, you’ll have access to an incredible amount of streaming videos to use in supplementing your lessons (or just enjoying in your free time!).
Providers include Drive Thru History, RightNow Media, City on a Hill Productions, Creation.com, and many more reputable sources.
World Book Encyclopedia Online
You’ll also have access to a number of World Book libraries, in which you’ll find thousands of articles, primary source documents, research tools, and games. I loved playing around with the Timeline Creator – such a fun and useful tool for students.
Member Tote Bags
Finally, members also snag a great deal on SchoolhouseTeachers.com branded tote bags. They’re really cute, practical, and you can never have too many totes, right?
Other Considerations
I have to say, after reviewing everything SchoolhouseTeachers.com has to offer, I was surprised and impressed. They have really worked hard (and continue to do so) to ensure quality materials, great customer service, and online classes for all homeschooling families.
But one of my favorite parts is the principles they stand on, that being God’s Word, which is foundational in everything they do. SchoolhouseTeachers.com lessons are grounded in a Christian worldview, and they are clear that the lessons on their site will not violate their statement of faith. If teaching from a Biblical worldview is important to you, this is good to know.
SchoolhouseTeachers.com Coupon Code
In homeschooling, there is no one-size fits all, which makes this company and platform so special – you can truly customize your child’s education, and an ultimate PreK-12 annual membership to SchoolhouseTeachers.com is a great resource that makes it easy and affordable to do so.
I absolutely loved exploring the platform and am happy to give them a positive review; it’s clear that it’s a blessing to many families, and I can’t wait to use it more for our homeschooling needs.
If you think SchoolhouseTeachers.com sounds like the perfect match for your family, now is the perfect time to buy during their Fresh Start BOGO Sale.
