We’re 31 weeks into our series of praying for our homeschools – I’m so thankful you are joining me! You can learn more about the series here. We’ll pray about a new area of our homeschool journey each week and dig into God’s Word with daily devotional reflections.
Picture this: you’re trying to help your child solve what seems like an impossible math problem, the laundry and dishes are piling up, and your toddler suddenly decides to express their inner Picasso—all over the living room walls. Your science experiment turns into a full-blown kitchen disaster, and your preteen dramatically declares they’ll never understand fractions.
It’s one of those days.
On days like these, when everything feels like it’s spiraling out of control, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and defeated. But right in the middle of the chaos, we find a comforting truth in Psalm 46:1:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
What a beautiful reminder.

When homeschooling feels shaky—when the schedule goes off the rails, the lessons fall flat, or we’re flooded with self-doubt—we need something solid to cling to. That something is God. He is our steady foundation, our ever-present help, and the strength we didn’t know we needed.
Too often, when life feels like it’s spinning, we reach for temporary relief. A scroll through social media, a piece (or two) of chocolate, or zoning out with TV can feel like a break—but those things don’t truly sustain us.
What we need isn’t a distraction. It’s refuge. Real peace. And only God can provide that.
Let’s Seek Stillness in the Chaos
This week, let’s make it a priority to pause and intentionally turn our hearts to the Lord. Whether it’s during the quiet of the early morning, a few calm moments while the kids work on a project, or at the end of a long day, we can choose to reconnect with the One who never leaves us.
He is always near. Always faithful. Always ready to strengthen us for whatever comes next.
A Prayer for This Week
Heavenly Father,
I praise you, my refuge and strength, for you are always with me. You know my needs, the needs of our homeschool and my children, and I am so grateful for the work you are doing in our lives.
Thank you for your ever-present help, and for strengthening me through trials in our homeschooling journey. Even when I may be unaware that I need strength and protection, you are there. I am so sorry for the times that I have not recognized this and come to you first; forgive me for turning to other things in place of you.
Help me to remain close to you daily and trust in you alone. Help my kids and I see you in all things, even struggles. It brings so much comfort knowing you are in control. May I not forget this, and may this peace I have in you overflow to my kids as I teach them in our homeschool.
In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen
