Homeschool Prayer Challenge Week 29: Diligence in Our Homeschool

We’re 29 weeks into our series of praying for our homeschools – I’m so thankful you are joining me! You can learn more about the series here. We’ll pray about a new area of our homeschool journey each week and dig into God’s Word with daily devotional reflections.

Let’s talk about diligence.

Homeschooling is a journey filled with both joyous and challenging moments. As homeschooling moms, we carry a big responsibility—not just to educate our kids, but to disciple them, love them, manage our homes, and tend to our personal walks with the Lord. It can feel like a lot.

But this verse in Galatians 6:9 (ESV) gives us so much encouragement:

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

I love this reminder because it speaks to the heart of perseverance in the day-to-day. What we do matters—not just in this lifetime, but eternally. So this week, I want to break this down into four key encouragements as we focus on diligence in our homeschool.

1. Remember God’s Strength in Our Weakness

If you’ve been with me since Week 2, we talked about this early on—how God is at work in our weakness. When you feel overwhelmed or stretched too thin, remember 2 Corinthians 12:9:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

That verse is for you, homeschool mama. Lean on His strength. Trust that He will give you the energy and perseverance you need for each day.

2. Keep an Eternal Perspective

We may not always see the fruit of our labor right away. It can feel like our efforts go unnoticed—especially when it comes to discipleship. But everything we do matters.

Every prayer, every lesson, every act of love—it’s all building something greater in our kids’ hearts. God sees it. And whether the fruit shows up tomorrow or twenty years from now, your faithfulness will bear an eternal harvest.

3. Focus on the Heart

Academics matter, but they aren’t the most important thing. As Christ-followers, the heart of our homeschooling is leading our kids closer to God.

Keep praying that your children’s hearts will be receptive to His truth. And trust that your perseverance, your faith, and your example will have a lasting impact. Not because you’re perfect—but because God works through your diligence and desire to glorify Him.

4. Lean Into Community

Finally, don’t try to do this alone. God often strengthens us not only through His Word but also through the people He places in our lives. If you’re feeling weary, reach out to other homeschool moms. Ask for help. Share your heart. And be that friend for someone else too.

Think about how God has encouraged you through others. Who might He want you to bless this week?

You Are Not Alone

God, in His wisdom, called you to this role—and He will equip you with what you need. Seek Him daily. Glorify Him in your efforts. And stay open to the beautiful work He’s doing in your homeschool.

A Prayer for This Week

Heavenly Father,

You are wise beyond what I can comprehend, and in that wisdom You have called me homeschool my kids. I am thankful everyday for this gift, and how you have revealed yourself to me on this journey.

Some days I feel overwhelmed when I think about my daily responsibilities and the homeschool years I have ahead of me. I forget that you are leading the way, and so easily become discouraged. Help me to not grow weary, but remain diligent in teaching my children. I know that the best way to live is by following Your good and perfect will. Draw me nearer to You each day, and turn it into something beautiful in our homeschool.

More than anything, I desire that you work through me to win my kids’ hearts to you. Give me day-to-day strength to do what You have called me to do.

Thank you for encouraging me everyday through your precious Word and the people you put in my life to come alongside me. May I glorify You in the work I do in our homeschool this week.
