We’re 36 weeks into our series of praying for our homeschools – I’m so thankful you are joining me! You can learn more about the series here. We’ll pray about a new area of our homeschool journey each week and dig into God’s Word with daily devotional reflections.

Over the past weeks, we’ve spent a lot of time praying for ourselves, our children, and our personal homeschools. This week, I want us to turn outward and focus on something just as important—praying for others in our homeschool community.

Whether it’s families in our local groups and co-ops or the broader homeschooling world, there’s something incredibly special about lifting one another up in prayer.

In Week 36 of the Homeschool Prayer Challenge, focus on interceding for your homeschool community—lifting others up in prayer with joy, patience, and faith.

Why Pray for Others?

It’s easy to get caught up in our own challenges and victories, but interceding for others aligns us with God’s will and deepens our relationship with Him. Prayer isn’t about making life easier or problem-free—it’s about growing in our understanding of God and learning to love and care for others.

Jesus Himself is our perfect intercessor, continually praying for us before the Father. When we pray for others, we’re following His example—showing love by lifting their needs, concerns, and joys to the Lord.

Galatians 6:2 reminds us:

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

We were never meant to carry our burdens alone. Instead, we are called to support one another in struggles and love our neighbor as ourselves.

The Attitude of Prayer

Romans 12:12 gives us a beautiful framework for how we can approach intercessory prayer:

  • Be joyful in hope. When we pray for others, we do so with joy, trusting in God’s goodness and faithfulness. Even in tough situations, our hope in Christ brings joy.
  • Patient in affliction. Some prayers take time. When answers don’t come right away, we can rest in the truth that God’s timing is perfect and His wisdom is greater than ours.
  • Faithful in prayer. Consistency matters. We are called to keep praying for others without giving up, trusting that our prayers matter and God hears every word.

Sharing Our Own Burdens

Praying for others also means we must be willing to share our own struggles. This can be hard—it feels vulnerable to admit when we’re overwhelmed or hurting. But when we open up, it allows others to support us, encourage us, and pray for us in return.

When we share our burdens, we live out the beautiful picture of Christian community described in Scripture: a people who walk alongside each other, helping carry what was never meant to be carried alone.

This Week’s Challenge

Take time this week to think about specific people in your homeschool community who might need prayer. Maybe it’s another mom who feels stretched thin, a family going through a difficult season, or a child facing unique challenges. Pray for them by name and ask God to meet their needs.

Remember—prayer is a privilege. It draws us closer to God, strengthens our bonds with others, and reminds us that we are part of something much bigger: God’s work in the lives of His people.

A Prayer for This Week

Heavenly Father,

This week, I want to lift up our community of homeschooling families to you. Teaching and raising our kids to know, love and fear you is an important calling, and I am so thankful for the people you have placed in our lives to come alongside us on our journey.

For my friends who are homeschooling, let their hearts be encouraged and let them keep their eyes on you. Give them strength and wisdom when they need it. Help us all to work heartily for you in our homes and homeschools, living and walking by the fruit of your Holy Spirit.

Lord, I know there are many homeschooling families that don’t know you. Use homeschooling as a way for them to encounter you, in such a way that they can not deny your presence in all of creation.

For those that are in need of community and support, give them guidance this week and keep them from discouragement. And lead our family to those you would have us to bless with the gifts you have given us. May we never doubt our worth through Jesus, and let the work we do for your kingdom through our homeschool make an impact and bring you glory.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen

Prayer is not just words spoken into the air. It is powerful and effective because our Father hears us. Let’s be faithful to lift one another up this week, carrying each other’s burdens in love.
