Yesterday, we started homeschooling my son in kindergarten. Today, he’s almost halfway through 4th grade.

Ok, not really. But I’m guessing you get my sentiment – the years sure fly by. It really does feel like yesterday that our homeschooling journey began. And I know that sooner than I am ready to let go, my kids will be moving to their next stages of life after homeschool.

It’s too early for me to know exactly what path my kids will take, and it’s hard for me to even think about them going away to college someday, if they choose that route.

But what does help ease my mind is knowing that there are some great options out there. There are colleges that actually recognize the unique, positive learning experiences homeschoolers have and are passionate about helping them succeed in the transition from homeschool to college.

Thiel college is well-known for being homeschooler friendly, and for good reason. Here are the top reasons why homeschoolers love Thiel College.

Why Homeschoolers Love Thiel College

Thiel college is well-known for being homeschooler friendly, and for good reason! Here are the top reasons why Thiel College is a good fit for students transitioning to college from a homeschool environment.

Application Process

Applying for college may seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Thiel College makes the application process easy with Admissions Counselors to walk families through all of the steps and requirements.

While homeschooled kids have the same requirements for admission, Thiel College counselors understand that how records are kept and obtained for homeschool families might be a little different than a traditional school. They are equipped and willing to help!

Small Class Sizes

For homeschoolers that are used to a small, individualized learning environment, jumping into a huge lecture hall with hundreds of other students is not necessarily hard, but it can be overwhelming. Many former homeschoolers appreciate the small class sizes at Thiel College, with 70% of their classes having less than 20 students.

There is also an 11:1 student-faculty ratio, so the opportunity for individualization and more engagement with professors is a plus.

Centers of Excellence

Thiel College has four programs called Centers of Excellence that encourage students to step out of their comfort zones to develop leadership skills and accomplish their goals.

The Dietrich Honors Institute is one of these programs that helps students find purpose in their education. Students invited to this program are offered a custom curriculum, a scholarship each year, and other exclusive opportunities.

You can learn more about these programs and what they have to offer here.

And as a homeschooling family, you might appreciate the learning experiences offered that don’t solely confine students to a lecture hall. Thiel College’s enrichment programs include opportunities to study abroad, complete internships and participate in cooperative programs to support and enhance learning.
