Hey guys, welcome back to my channel or welcome if you are new here. My name is Sarah. I am a homeschooling mom of four. And on this channel, I love to share homeschooling content and just things that are going on in my life right now, things that are relevant to homeschool moms. Today I thought it would be fun to just hop on, chat with you a little bit and share five of my current favorite things. These are things that I am using or enjoying right now that I think maybe you would love to
0:29
to hear about. All right, so for each of these things that I'm going to share with you, maybe you are already
0:39
using some of them. Maybe they're not new to you, or maybe you'll get some ideas from this list
0:45
But the first one is one that I'm using for my personal Bible study right now
0:50
And I mentioned this on when I did my New Year's Resolutions video, and it's actually
0:55
the Bible Recap. So this is a daily Bible reading plan and it's actually an app. So you can download if you have the Bible app
1:05
they have lots of different plans on there. And this is one of the plans that you can select and
1:10
follow along with. So every day you have a couple of different passages to read. And then there is a
1:18
devotional video or podcast that you can listen to. Tara Lee Cobble is the author and she just does a
1:26
great job of helping break down the passages that you're reading and really helping you understand
1:32
what is going on. So I'm following along in the app. I was a little ambitious at the beginning of
1:38
the year and I bought this book. This is just a study guide to go along with the app. So it has places
1:44
in here where you can write down notes and things like that. I have not been great about using this
1:49
Like I said, I was a little bit ambitious. Most days I'm doing the Bible reading either from my Bible or
1:56
from my phone app and then listening to the podcast afterwards. And I some days just don't have time
2:02
to sit down and take notes. But usually when I listen to the podcast, I wish that I had this book
2:08
in front of me because there are so many good little tidbits that are shared in that podcast
2:14
So if you are doing the plan, I definitely recommend that you listen to those. Don't skip out on
2:20
those because they are just really great and will help deepen your understanding of what you are reading
2:26
loving the Bible recap, download the app if you're looking for a study plan, and actually I'm really behind in this
2:35
Because typically with my Bible study during the school year, I'm doing Bible study fellowship or I'm preparing for something that I'm going to be teaching to our youth at church
2:46
So I got a little bit behind, but I'm still trying to catch up a little bit over the summer
2:51
I'm making some progress and still using this on days when I don't have anything else planned
2:56
So if you're looking for something to do over the summer, that is just a really great resource to get you reading the Bible
3:03
It's a chronological reading. And right now I'm in Leviticus. So I told you I was behind
3:09
We're halfway through the year and I'm in Leviticus. But it's so interesting
3:13
It has helped me open my eyes to things that I wouldn't have typically picked out or understood about what I'm reading
3:21
So one thing that my husband and I actually did, we did this plan
3:26
a year ago. And we would read through the different Bible portions every day and then we would
3:32
sit down together at night and listen to the podcast together. So that was something we just made
3:37
into a habit. We really enjoyed it. We made sure that we listened to the podcast episode and had
3:43
a discussion about it before we would put the TV on or do anything else at night. So that would be a
3:50
great recommendation if you looking for something to do with your spouse just to get into that habit of reading and discussing scripture together So that was my first pick the Bible recap Okay the second thing that I will share with you is something called Seeds Family Worship
4:07
I heard about this when my older kids were younger. So we've been listening to them for a long time, but I recently started listening to them more again with my little guy who's five, almost six
4:20
And if you aren't familiar with Seed's Family Worship, they, I think they're a family, but it's
4:26
scripture-based music, mainly targeted for kids, but I really enjoy it too. We listen to it on
4:34
Spotify. I have a Spotify account, so you can find it there. You can buy the CDs. You can
4:41
who uses CDs anymore? I don't know, but you can still buy them. Or maybe Amazon music
4:47
lots of different places you can probably get this. But we have a very, gotten in a really good routine of playing. I just have a soundtrack where I load all their songs
4:57
onto it and then I shuffle it up and we listen to it at night when we are going to bed. So like my
5:03
little guy, I will read him his stories at night and then when I tuck him in, we'll put Seed's
5:08
family worship on and he will just listen to that as he's falling asleep. And I just, I love the
5:14
music too. It is straight from scripture. So it's basically scripture put to music
5:20
And they do such a great job with this. And I find myself usually later on at night going to bed
5:27
And instead of all the crazy thoughts running through my head about things that I'm worried about or things that I need to get done
5:33
I will have the scripture stuck in my head from whatever we listened to previously, just on repeat
5:40
And so there's nothing better that we can be focusing on than scripture
5:45
So I love that it's just a way to get God's word into our hearts to give us something to
5:50
meditate on. And I don't know about you guys, but I remember things so much better when it is put to
5:57
music. So if you haven't heard of them or haven't checked them out, look up, Seed Family Worship
6:03
and actually I will put a link to their website in the description below along with all these other
6:08
things that I'm talking about. So definitely go check them out. Okay. This third thing, number three
6:13
that I'm really loving right now, this might be a little bit controversial. Okay. So no arguing
6:20
with me about this. I see both sides. Okay. I've had conversations with friends who enjoy this and friends
6:29
who don't enjoy this. And I honestly see both sides. I see why some people don't like it. And I
6:35
obviously see why some people like it because I do love it. So what am I talking about? Number three that I'm
6:41
really loving right now is the show, The Chosen. We just watched season four episode one the other day
6:48
and I thought it was so good. I thought it was so good
6:53
So you've probably heard about this show. They have a chosen app
6:57
It is just a drama. It's not scripture. It's a drama based on the life of Jesus and his disciples
7:05
And one of the things that I really like about this show is how for me it really does send me to scripture
7:13
and send me to kind of research and learn more about what's going on
7:17
since I know that it's not exactly word for word scripture, but I feel like they do follow pretty
7:23
close a lot of the times. But it leads me to kind of dig into more and learn more about whatever
7:29
is going on in that episode. So for example, in the last episode we watched, they had characters
7:36
for Joanna and Chuzza, and I did not know who they were. So I went to scripture and was researching
7:45
and learning about them. And it was something that just opened my eyes
7:49
to some new things that I probably read about them before but I just didn remember them and it didn wasn something that I could really recall So I love that it helps me to do that And let see you know it talked about
8:05
this last episode talked about John the Baptist and some of the things that led up to his being
8:11
killed. And just some of that, I, again, I've probably read it before, but I didn't remember
8:16
My memory is so bad. So it sent me back to scripture to be reading about that and learning about
8:21
that and we just really enjoyed the episode. So you can make up your own mind about that. You probably
8:28
have, but that is just something that I'm really enjoying right now. And my kids and I love watching
8:33
it together. We've actually had really good discussions about some of the things that have
8:40
gone on in the episodes. They've led to some really interesting conversations. And so I think
8:46
I just think it's great. Okay, number four, the fourth thing that I am loving right now
8:51
I mentioned this book in one of my convention recap videos, but it's the book Theology
8:59
I had this in my shopping cart on Amazon for so long. I had seen it at conventions for a couple of years, and I don't know why I just never actually purchased it
9:10
I'm so glad I did, and I really wish I would have done it sooner, although, I mean, this has been a great age for me to start reading through this with my youngest son
9:19
but if you guys have kids that are anywhere from about five, six years old through middle school
9:26
get this book. It's so, so good. It's beautiful theology book. And not just for kids. You know
9:34
it's written in a way that kids can understand doctrine and theology from the Bible. But older kids
9:42
are going to enjoy reading it too. It can be a great thing that you read aloud with your family
9:46
use for your morning time. We read this at 9.5. We read this at 9. before we go to bed. So it's another one of our bedtime rituals. Um, you know, we will pick out a
9:55
couple of different stories. Usually my son will want to pick out two or three books. And it's
10:00
it's been, like I said, just kind of a routine. He picks this out now as one of his books to
10:05
read. And what we do is, um, the different chapters are all pretty short. So just like one to two
10:12
pages. And they have, you know, a different topic for whatever they're teaching about
10:19
and so we will just read one of those at night. And again, my son is five, almost six
10:25
So we don't do too much more than just read through this together
10:29
And of course I'll answer any questions if he has any. But really right now, we're just kind of getting familiar with the language and with the theology
10:39
They do have discussion questions in the back. And there are also scripture verses referenced within the chapter
10:44
So if you have older kids, there are ways that you can dig deeper with this
10:48
but for now we're just reading it at night one little chapter night we've already been through it
10:53
once we went through it once and he wanted to keep reading it so um that's what we're doing so we'll
10:58
usually read this first and then whatever other book he wants to read but if you've been thinking about this
11:04
it's worth it it's a great book i wish i had started to learn some of this stuff learn um you know these
11:11
biblical concepts and these truths when i was younger so i don't think that you will regret having a copy of
11:18
this book. So theology. He's also got a couple of other ones. We've got the Psalms one we're working
11:23
through that one. I think is a little bit better for older kids, but we're still reading through
11:27
some of the Psalms with that. But definitely start with this one with your kids. And then this is
11:34
this is a bonus. This is like four and a half. Okay. So that is a great book for kids. If you're
11:42
looking for a more grown-up version of something for yourself, if you've never done
11:48
like a Bible doctrine class or studied about Bible doctrine or things like this I will highly recommend this book right here This is one that I reference and I kind of going through slowly This was recommended to me by one of our pastors
12:04
We were taking a class at church and he recommended it to us and it's been really good to
12:11
read through. This is basically an abridged version of the systematic theology book by Wayne Grudham
12:18
So it's pretty easy to read. It's still pretty thick, but it's smaller than the actual big systematic theology book
12:26
So I highly recommend having a copy of this. This book goes through seven key topics of the Christian faith
12:33
So you're going to read about the doctrine of God, the doctrine of man, the doctrine of Christ, the doctrine of the future, things like that
12:42
So definitely a good one. If you're looking for something for yourself to do a little bit more study on this, this is great to have a copy
12:50
of. Okay. And number five. So we're down to the last thing on my list. My husband and I love
12:57
coffee. We can't go without it in the morning. We love it. So I heard of this coffee brand on the
13:03
Ali Beth Stucky podcast. I listen to her podcast when I am running usually. And I heard about
13:09
seven weeks coffee. Have you guys heard about this? So a couple months ago, we actually started
13:15
buying this coffee and I really like it. They have donated to
13:20
over 800 pro-life companies or they've supported very many pro-life companies and when you purchase from
13:29
them, that's what part of your purchase goes towards. And I think that it's really important that we
13:34
shop with our dollars. There have been some things over the last couple of years that, you know
13:40
I've made changes to some of the places that I shop. Unfortunately, you can't change everything
13:46
especially not all at once. So for us, at least, we make small changes when we can and when we find a
13:55
company that really just fits with our values, something that we can support, get behind
14:00
something that's important to us. So this was one of the changes that we decided to make
14:05
So go check them out. I'm going to leave a link to them as well in the description below
14:10
And right now, if you are watching this in June, which is when I'm recording this, they actually are
14:16
promoting this as Celebrate Life Month. So if you set up your subscription, your coffee subscription
14:24
they are sending out, I saw on their website a pro-life tote with every subscription. So pretty cool
14:32
Tase great. They use organic farming practices and things like that. So this is definitely one of my
14:39
favorite things right now. Oh, and I almost forgot the name, seven weeks coffee. Maybe you have figured it out
14:44
But seven weeks, since they are a pro-life company, seven weeks is when the baby is about the size of a coffee bean
14:53
And it's about the time when you can hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time
14:57
So I thought their name, their logo, all of that was really great
15:02
Okay, so I think that's about it. Those are five things that I am loving right now
15:07
And I should have said this at the beginning. But as you were listening, if there's anything that resonated with you or if you
15:14
agreed with me or you like some of these things or you don't like them, share in the comments below
15:19
because I'm really curious to hear how we're similar or how we're different. And I also would
15:25
love to hear if you want to drop this down below as well. Tell me one thing that you are really
15:32
loving right now. What's one of your favorite things? Hit that like button if you enjoyed this video
15:36
And I would love for you to subscribe to my channel if that's something that you want to do to just
15:41
hang out with us as we talk about homeschooling, life, mother. all those types of things. Thanks so much for watching. I'll see you next time
