Hey guys, welcome to week 20 of the homeschool prayer challenge. My name is Sarah and I am so thankful that
0:06
you're joining me this year as we pray over a different aspect of our homeschooling each week
0:15
This week we are going to be praying intentionally about slowing down and enjoying our homeschool journeys with our kids
0:24
I don't know about you, but my tendency is to always want to be busy. I have a lot of
0:29
a hard time slowing down because as a homeschool mom there's always something that needs to
0:35
be done. I was just thinking about a couple of years ago when my family and I were preparing
0:41
to go on a big family vacation. It had been years since we've gone on a vacation together and
0:46
we'd never done one this big. So my mission was to for once to get everything on my do-list
0:54
checked off so that I wouldn't have to worry about a thing on vacation. I could finally take some time
1:00
to relax and guess what I did get everything done but I bet you can also guess this
1:05
there were still things that crept up that needed to be done I tried my best not to
1:10
worry about them but it can feel like such a never cycle some days it so tempting to continually be pulled into the mindset of always needing to do Something always needs to be cleaned Schoolwork always needs to be graded or planned
1:24
Food needs to be shopped for or prepped or served. So what do we do
1:29
moms, when it doesn't feel like we can give ourselves permission to just slow down and relax
1:35
Sometimes we just need a reminder that the world is not going to stop spinning if we
1:39
stop moving, that whether or not we realize it at the moment, there is a difference between useful and needful actions. Sometimes I have to remind myself that
1:49
writing the email that I want to send this week is useful for my professional goals, but my kids are
1:55
needing quality time with me at the moment, or that I could say yes to one more opportunity
1:59
but it would cut into my already busy schedule and might interfere with my time for my daily
2:05
Bible study. So what is useful and what is necessary? Or even better, what is temporary
2:12
and what is eternal? Far too many things promise us purpose in our lives and give us the illusion of joy
2:18
In the end, however, Jesus is the only answer, the only way we can find true purpose and joy
2:25
This week is probably going to be just as busy as always, but we need to make sure we keep our
2:30
priorities straight If you feeling constant pressure if always racing around is stealing joy from your homeschool I want you to remember this week who goes before you God is not rushed He is not frantic He the creator of the
2:45
heavens and the earth, made space for rest. And to not only rest, but to look at his creation and see
2:51
that it was good. God created to enjoy his creation. And I believe that he wants us to find time to
2:58
relax and enjoy our homeschooling and our kids. Let's slow down this week and notice how God is
3:03
working in our lives. Let's put our security in him alone, not in our ability to accomplish at all
3:10
ourselves. I need this reminder more than ever right now. And if you do too, please know that you're
3:16
not alone. Your Heavenly Father sees you, knows what you're going through, and wants you to
3:21
release any burden that's keeping you from walking closely with him and living life to the full
3:26
So friends, whether you are in the middle of your homeschool year or nearing the end of the school season, let's pray for rest in our Lord and Savior who promises to refresh our souls when we seek him
3:40
Let's make time for what is necessary this week and enjoy our kids, our homeschools, and our amazing God who is always in the thick of it with us
3:49
Let me pray for us. Heavenly Father this week has been busy As I strive to finish my to list each day help remind me of your sovereignty Though I may rush and worry you are limitless and you are always working in my life to bring
4:03
about your will at just the right time. Help me to trust in you more and release my daily plans to you
4:11
It can be so easy to let the busyness steal my joy in our homeschool, but I know you promise me
4:16
rest for my weariness when I seek you first. Help me slow down this week and truly soak in the
4:21
blessings right in front of me. Thank you for being the ultimate source of my rest and my peace
4:26
and for caring about even the little details of my life. Thank you for my kids and for the precious
4:32
time we have together. Restore my peace this week and give me wisdom to navigate my to-do list
4:38
each day in a way that brings glory and honor to you. In Jesus' name I pray, amen. All right
4:45
you guys, thank you so much for joining me this week and I pray that this is truly your prayer this week
4:50
and that you can find that time to relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy what you are doing in your homeschooling
4:56
