Welcome to week 18 of the homeschool prayer challenge. I'm Sarah from Blessed Home School and I'm so excited to come alongside you this year as we pray for our homeschools each week and really take the time to be intentional about our walks with the Lord and keeping him at the center of our homeschooling. So let's chat for a minute and then we will pray together
0:23
So this week I was picking up a few travel size items for an upcoming family trip. We are going out of state
0:29
for another one of my races in just a couple of weeks. And I picked up some band-aids to restock
0:35
this little first aid kit that I keep in my purse. And, you know, I keep it just in case
0:40
So when I got home, I started switching out things from one purse to another to the one that I
0:46
wanted to bring with me. I have so much junk in my purse, moms. Maybe you can relate. But
0:51
one thing that I took out was a little New Testament Bible that I had packed inside. One that I
0:56
carry around with me wherever I go just in case. It got me thinking and feeling a little guilty just in case of what
1:04
If I was being honest with myself I hadn opened that Bible very much recently or even used it in the way I had planned to when I first bought it which was for the intention of sharing it with others How often I thought do I treat God word just like that little first aid kit that I bought for my purse tucked away on a shelf or in a bag waiting until I need it rather than reaching
1:26
for it eagerly for the nourishment of my soul each day? The Lord has promised to never leave us
1:31
so I know that he's there, but how often do I take this precious gift for granted and make him
1:37
less than my top priority. Am I delighting in him the way I delight in my friendships, my marriage
1:43
or even my homeschooling? These are convicting thoughts. This week, I am praying that we not only
1:48
make the time to study the Bible in our homeschools, but that we delight in God's word personally
1:53
and show our kids through our actions how to love God's word. To delight in something means to
1:59
take great pleasure in it, to enjoy it. This means that our homeschool Bible time is not just
2:05
another subject that we get to check off the list. It's something that we should desire to make time for
2:10
that we look forward to and that we're fulfilled by. So often our busy schedules can get in the way of us
2:16
truly delighting in the Lord. So I challenge you this week as you pray about this to consider what might
2:22
need to change in your daily routine so that you can stay committed to daily intentional Bible study If you truly delight in the Lord this week what will look different about your homeschool about your personal daily routine When we delight in the Lord it means that we are
2:38
fully satisfied by him. Our will begins to match up to his will as we go about our daily lives
2:44
So how do we get to this point? And better yet, how do we teach our kids to delight in the Lord
2:49
One of the best things that we can do is remain diligent in prayer. Pray with your kids throughout
2:53
the day and let them see the joy that we have from a personal relationship with Christ
2:58
Pray when things go well and when they don't. Pray that you will seek God first and be satisfied
3:03
by him above all else and that he would give you the desire to do this. He desires that
3:09
relationship with us and when we seek him first, he will renew any delight that is lacking in
3:14
our lives. Be intentional about the steps you're taking to grow closer to God, whether it's
3:18
through reading, memory verses, listening to worship music, scripture writing, or or something else
3:25
Don't let the word of our Holy God take the same place on your shelf
3:29
as your first aid kit. Be proactive about delighting in him this week
3:33
Let me pray for us. Heavenly Father, you are always good, faithful, and unchanging
3:39
Thank you for giving us your word that reflects your awesome nature Your word provides me with so much comfort and guidance yet I know I do not always seek you with my entire heart Help me to diligently study your word and trust that you alone are my sustenance and strength
3:55
Open my eyes to what needs to be eliminated from my schedule so that I may rest in you more
4:01
Teach me how to slow down and abide in you and let me be a guide to my kids
4:06
showing them how to live a life that's pleasing to you. Thank you for the light of your life-changing word and for the opportunity to draw close to
4:13
you that I do not want to take for granted. Most of all, thank you for sending Jesus, the word
4:19
made flesh, so that we may have peace and everlasting life through him. To you, Father, be all the
4:26
praise and glory forever. Amen. Thank you so much for watching this week. When you leave here
4:31
go ahead and log into the prayer challenge you dashboard and print out the prayer this week
4:35
Hang it on your fridge or in your homeschool room and be reminded to pray continually as you go
4:40
about your day. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, just check out the links in the description below. It's absolutely free to join in on this challenge and I've got
4:47
printable prayers and Bible study sheets there that you can print out each week if you would like
4:52
along with these videos and other helpful resources. Thanks again and I will see you back next week
