Hey friends, thank you so much for joining me for week 24 of the homeschool prayer challenge
0:05
This week we are going to chat about the parable of the sower and pray that our hearts and
0:10
the hearts of our children are good soil for God's word. How often do you give your kids a piece of sound wisdom and they immediately turn around
0:24
and do the exact opposite? I'm sure it's happened to all of us and I can't say that I blame my kids
0:30
How often do I do the exact same thing and think that I know best when someone else tells
0:36
me otherwise? And even worse, there are so many times that I read, study, and hear God's word, the ultimate
0:43
source of wisdom, and yet choose to go my own way. If you're printing out the Bible study sheets each week, this week you will read and reflect
0:49
on Luke chapter eight, verses one through 15, Jesus's parable of the sower
0:54
You're likely familiar with it where seed, which represents God's word is scattered among
1:00
four different types of ground, hard, rocky, thorny, and good, which represent the state
1:06
of our hearts when we hear and receive God's word. What stuck out to me when I was reading through the passage this week is how generous and
1:13
faithful our God is. Even when he knows the ground is hard, overcrowded and thorny, he throws the seed
1:21
I gave up on my garden after one season because I had less than desirable results, but he
1:27
will always sow the seed even when the result is discouraging. And that encourages me to continue sharing his word in our homeschool
1:36
Even when it doesn't seem like my kids are listening, even when they act in ways that
1:40
don't seem very fruitful, even when I'm not seeing the transformation that I think that
1:46
I should be seeing. I can keep sowing in obedience to my heavenly father because it's not his word that's ineffective
1:53
It's the fact that we're all sinful and need regenerated hearts. And this is the greatest need of my kids for their hearts to be regenerated, for their
2:02
hearts to be good soil, not just for them to put on a good show for appearances sake
2:07
So I'm praying this week that I will continue to be faithful in sowing, watering, and cultivating
2:11
the hearts of my kids, that their hearts will be good soil, humble, willing to learn and
2:16
submissive to the Lord, that the enemy won't be allowed to take the wisdom from their hearts
2:21
that they will hear and not ignore the gospel and God's wisdom, that they won't be distracted
2:26
by the world and unable to grow and mature in Christ. Let's pray this week that our kids will keep the word of God in their hearts and that they
2:33
will see it bear much fruit in their lives. What a blessing to be able to use our homeschooling to teach and train our kids to know, love
2:41
and serve the Lord. Let me pray for us. Heavenly Father, you are a loving and faithful God
2:47
Thank you for revealing yourself to me through your word and for planting the seeds of your
2:51
word in my heart. I want to think that my heart is like good soil, but so often it's not
2:56
I'm so sorry for the times I've heard your word, yet ignored it, for the times I've allowed
3:02
worldly distractions to keep me from being an effective witness. I truly desire for the seeds of your word to grow and multiply in my life, producing
3:10
a great harvest. And let the hearts of my children be good soil too
3:15
May they always receive your word joyfully, soak it in, and take it seriously
3:20
Let our homeschool habits and routines help sow deep roots in their lives that they may
3:24
bear much fruit for Christ. Guard our family from the enemy who tries to keep the word from growing in our hearts
3:30
Help my kids grow into strong, courageous workers for your kingdom who are faithful
3:35
to share your word with others and plant those seeds. In Jesus' precious name I pray, amen
3:40
Alright you guys, thanks again for joining me this week. I pray that all of us would also be cultivating our own hearts this week
3:47
That we are humble and willing to learn from the Lord so that we might pass on his wisdom
3:52
to our kids. That we will eagerly spend time with him. Grab your printable prayer from the dashboard this week and hang it up as a reminder to
3:59
do this. And I will see you next week
