Hey guys, welcome back to today's video. Welcome if you are new to my channel. Today's
0:08
video is going to be a grocery hall video. I have not done one of these yet, but I thought it would be
0:14
fun to just kind of show you guys what I have planned out for our meals, what I'm picking up at the
0:21
store today, and how that's going to look for us for the next month. Our pantry and fridge are very
0:28
there right now. We were on vacation last week, so I finally sat down last night to get our meals
0:35
planned out and get the Walmart order in and get all of that straightened out. And that's typically
0:42
what I like to do. I like to do one big grocery pickup order a month that kind of covers a lot of the
0:50
dinners and big things that we're going to be having for that month. And then usually weekly
0:55
will go out for any other little filler things. So if we're out of cereal or milk or any toilet
1:02
trees or dog food or whatever it is that we need, snacks for the kids. So today's video is really
1:09
just going to be a lot of the dinner items. There are some things in there for breakfast and lunch
1:16
a couple of toiletries. I think I have some toilet paper in there, but mostly just food for this one
1:24
And this is all going to be from Walmart today. I put in a Walmart pickup order last night
1:30
Right now I am taking my twin girls out to orchestra practice and then we're going to be picking up the order on the way home
1:36
I am all about convenience at this point in our lives. Days are just so crazy. I feel like I never have time to run into the store anymore
1:45
So I love doing the pickup options. And then usually during the week, like I said, on those extra runs, I will either do a pickup there or we'll run into Snook
1:54
or another easy store to run into. For our monthly grocery budget, there are six of us
2:02
And right now, I have it at about $1,300 a month. And that includes toiletries
2:09
And that has definitely gone up as prices are continuing to increase and as our kids
2:16
are getting older. So it just feels like it keeps getting more expensive
2:21
And I don't know if that's typical or not, but that's what has been working for us. I also am not super thrifty. I don't have, you know
2:31
a lot of time to like comparison shop too much as far as our meal planning and things go. I just
2:38
do what is easy right now. So if you're looking for tips on how to, you know, really tighten down
2:45
the budget, how to, you know, just cut those dollars. That's not going to be me. I'm sorry. So this
2:52
particular order that you're going to see came to be about $450 with taxes. And again, it's all from
3:00
Walmart. And you should also know that I really planned out very easy meals for our dinner. So things that
3:08
either don't take a lot of time to make. I do have some frozen things in here, like frozen lasagnas and
3:14
frozen pizzas, which are just convenient, especially when we don't have time on some nights to really
3:19
do a lot of baking or cooking. We do like to do that and we will sometimes get together and
3:27
bake a nice dinner or something a couple nights a week. But most of this is going to be just
3:32
easy meals that I can make really quickly on nights that we're busy. And so what I planned out last
3:38
night and what you're going to see, this will give us about 20 dinners for all of us and some
3:44
stuff for breakfast and lunch. And again, I will do an extra
3:49
run during the week if we need more things for breakfast, lunch, whatever. For the other
3:55
dinners, we will either eat out. We do that. We do have a budget for that a few times a
4:01
month or we'll pick up something easy to make if we have a little bit more time to cook
4:05
like I said. But this will get us through a lot of our big meals for the month. And also
4:11
just so you guys know, I love to eat healthy. I think it's important to be conscious
4:17
about the foods that we're eating and things like that, but I am not super strict about that type of
4:22
thing right now. It's not all organic food. We don't have any kind of special diet. So this is
4:27
really what is just typical for this season of parenting and mothering right now. And I hope
4:34
this will just give you guys a good glimpse at what it looks like for us. I'm going to go run my
4:40
girls to orchestra. We'll pick up the grocery order on the way home and I will show you guys
4:46
what it all includes Okay so we just got home and got everything unloaded So I gonna go through It all over my kitchen table right now I to go through and kind of show you guys what everything is Talk about how I going to use it And that
5:01
will be it. So we will start at this. And I tried to organize everything the best I could. We will see. I'm
5:10
sure I'll come across some things that aren't as well organized. But down here, we have some bananas
5:15
I picked up. Some Fuji apples, just a three-pound bag of them
5:20
These are my favorite type of apples and the kids really like them too
5:24
So Fuji apples, I like to snack on those, have them for lunch
5:29
A bag of onions. I have a yellow onion that I need for one of our dinners that I'm going to make, a green pepper
5:37
and then my kids love these cutie oranges as well. Diet Pepsi, this is for me, total Pepsi girl all the way
5:48
And then I picked up some frozen fruit. I have some frozen pineapple and frozen mango. This is to go in my
5:57
smoothies that I make with my little green powder. So it tastes much better with this frozen fruit in there
6:07
All right. And then we have a lot of chips. We're actually going over to a friend's house tonight. So I wanted to
6:13
bring some chips along. We're going to barbecue. I also picked up some tortilla
6:18
chips. We're going to be doing a couple of Mexican dinners over the next month, and my kids
6:25
really like to do chips and salsa, and I bought a recipe that we're going to do some homemade
6:29
casso. It'll be a new recipe, but my daughter loves queso. So got some chips for that
6:35
and then my kids really like to snack on veggie straws throughout the day, so I grabbed
6:39
some of those. All right, I told you guys this is mostly groceries, not a lot of toiletries
6:45
We did need toilet paper, so I grabbed some toilet paper. and then the other items that we needed, I needed some more lotion for my purse. So I picked this up
6:56
Josh, my husband, needed some mouthwash. So I grabbed that for him. And then my kids really
7:01
like using these flossers. And I had a whole bag of them, but my five-year-old accidentally dumped them
7:07
all over the floor, like the whole bag over the floor the other day. So I had to pick up a new bag of
7:13
these. Luckily, they are pretty cheap. So those are the only toilet
7:18
literary items that I grabbed. We got some bread. We go through a lot of bread for lunches. My kids like
7:26
peanut butter. They will do, they like fluffer nutter sandwiches. So sometimes they'll do peanut butter
7:31
with, I got some marshmallows, mini marshmallows and chocolate chips. They'll sometimes put those on
7:37
their sandwiches, but we go through a lot of chocolate chips for other things too. So I picked up another
7:41
bag of those. And then I got some hamburger buns because we're going to be doing
7:48
sloppy joes for one of our dinners. So got the bread for that. All right, I got some
7:57
pretzel nuggets. I love these. I snack on these all the time and sometimes if I'm
8:01
really super busy and don't have a lot of time to sit down, I will eat them for lunch
8:06
They've got protein, peanut butter. I mean, fill me up. So those are always good. And the
8:11
kids love them to snack on too. Okay, but I also got some ground turkey. I have a really good
8:18
that I like to make for turkey burgers that I will make on our George Foreman Grill and I will make that for lunch. I'm planning on doing that probably maybe this upcoming week since I'm going to have some extra time. So I got a couple of things of ground turkey. Well, just one thing of ground turkey. And then I got some turkey sausage. I'm going to be using this. I think in I think I'm going to make some egg muffins was the plan to have on hand for breakfast. So I'm going to use some turkey sauce. I'm going to use some turkey sauce. I'm going to make some egg muffins. It was the plan was the plan. I'm going to use some turkey sauce. I'm going to use some turkey sauce. I'm. I'm going to use some turkey sauce
8:48
for that. We needed some more butter. I needed some biscuits. We're going to be doing
8:54
some biscuits and gravy. My kids love that. I don't know if that'll be a weekend
8:58
thing or when we're going to do that, but some jumbo biscuits. We have one
9:04
carton of eggs and then I picked up some pork sausage. I have a great breakfast
9:11
casserole recipe and I'm going to be making that again. The whole family loves it
9:16
but I needed some more sausage. I usually use one regular and one hot and then there was a sale going on if I bought two and I wrote
9:25
down there's something else that I'm going to use these for and I can't remember off the top of my
9:29
head but I have enough sausage for the things that I'm going to make. Okay so sticking with the
9:34
breakfast theme I picked up a couple more Kodiak protein oatmeal I love the maple and brown sugar
9:41
I will usually have this for breakfast because it's super easy and it's really good
9:45
We got some milk We go through a lot of cereal I actually didn get any cereal today because we have a lot of it in our pantry still So I got some milk and then a big thing of sausage My kids like to make this really easy to do in the microwave Okay I think that is it for breakfast stuff Let go Let just talk here It kind of all jumbled up but I got some taco seasoning I mentioned we are going to
10:16
to do tacos one night and I have a bunch of ground beef over here. I think I bought like
10:22
eight looks like eight things of ground beef because I'm going to keep it in the freezer and that
10:27
way I have it on hand. It was a pretty good price. So I'll freeze it and then whenever I'm
10:33
ready to use it, I will pull it out, bought it and then we'll use it for that night. But we're
10:38
going to do tacos one night. I mentioned sloppy Joe's. I also have a recipe for enchiladas
10:43
So we're going to do that. This is some cheese that I got to make that homemade queso recipe. So we're really excited to try that. And then the tortillas are for the enchiladas, but also the taco night. Okay, easy, sloppy chose. I just throw some ground beef in the pan and cook it up, heat it up, and we are good to go. So that's an easy dinner. Got two things of sour cream. This is, I think, for
11:13
the enchilada recipe, but also my kids like to use it on their tacos and things like that
11:19
Salsa to go with our chips. I already had one can of enchilada sauce. So I grabbed one more and some green
11:27
chilies. This is for the homemade queso recipe. Okay, I do have a frozen lasagna in here. We just
11:35
love lasagna and it's super easy to make when we just need something easy and I don't want to cook
11:42
I got a couple of Caesar salad kits that will be easy, an easy side dish for something, and then just some romaine salad. I will use this for lunch. I actually bought some salad dressing, and for some reason, they're shipping it to me. I guess they didn't have it in stock, but it is Primal Kitchen, I think is the brand. The Primal Kitchen Caesar dressing, I really like. So I will do that for lunch sometime. Back here, some Texas Toastie
12:12
have to have that with your pasta meals or lasagna pasta, things like that. I've got two of those
12:22
I have some grill-ready oven-roasted diced chicken breast. So a little bit pricier to buy it this way
12:30
but it's so convenient. I have an alfredo pasta with broccoli. I have this big thing of broccoli
12:38
here. So I'm going to be making that. I have two jars of Alfredo sauce. And that is another really
12:44
easy meal that everybody loves. So that is what the chicken is for. It just saves me that time
12:49
It saves me that extra step of cooking it and cutting it all up when it's already pre-cooked and I just
12:54
have to heat it up and it's good to go. Okay, some more convenient meals for busy nights, skillet meals
13:01
cheeseburger skillet meals. Right. They taste pretty good. Everybody likes them. So we'll have those
13:08
And then I have a couple of frozen pizzas. Always good to have on hand
13:13
Ranch dressing, we go through a lot of this. Couple snacky things for the kids
13:18
We've got some mini alphabet cookies. My little one really loves these
13:23
Applesauce cups, we go through a lot of these. Goldfish were specifically requested by my kids
13:29
And kind of also to go through snacks, I've got some cereal bars
13:36
They like to snack on these. That was all that I got. for the rest of the snacks right now. Okay, so we're almost there, you guys. Moving on to this side of
13:46
the table, chili. That is one of the things that I'm going to make. I'm reminded as I see the
13:51
kidney beans. We've got chili. So I've got kidney beans for those. A couple things of
13:56
corn muffin mix that will go with the chili along with some crackers. My kids like to put that in
14:02
their chili. And then I'm trying these for my husband. He works from home. And he works from home
14:08
He'll usually either do soup or leftovers or whatever. He wanted something a little bit different
14:13
So we're trying a couple of these healthy choice meals. I got four different ones because I wasn't sure which ones he would love
14:23
He's really flexible and he'll eat pretty much anything. But I figured I would give him a variety to see if you even like them
14:30
And we would move forward from there. Yogurt. So I've got, this is the yogurt that my husband and my husband
14:38
my kids like My husband also likes this I like this yogurt So I got some of this for me And then this is for smoothies for the kids And I also have a banana bread recipe that uses some Greek yogurt that I have been meaning to pick up for a
14:55
long time and I keep forgetting. So got it today and we will make some banana bread with that
15:02
Corn dogs, my youngest son loves these. So these are an easy lunch. And then soup. My kids are in this
15:09
big soup phase right now. They really like soup. So I got a bunch of plain chicken noodle soup for the kids, for an easy lunch
15:20
I forgot about these macadamia nuts. Great for a snack. I'll have these sometimes for lunch, too, if I'm doing a salad and a turkey burger
15:27
along with some fruit. But I picked up a little bag of these
15:31
They're so good. And then I think this is it. Finally, vitamin water
15:35
I love this flavor of vitamin water. So I grabbed this for my stuff
15:41
self. All right, you guys, I don't think I missed anything. This is it. This is the big grocery hall
15:49
for the month. Like I said, this was around $450. It'll get us about 20 meals. And that is
15:59
with the recipes that I'm going to make, but also some of this stuff is kind of supplementing
16:04
some ingredients that I already had on hand in the pantry, just some little things. But this will be good
16:11
to get us through some dinners and some lunches, and then we'll kind of do some little mini grocery
16:19
runs throughout the rest of the month whenever we need to. And I'll just show you guys real quick
16:24
This is the how I kind of plan things out. It's nothing really fancy, but I have this little
16:32
magnetic thing on my fridge, and what I will do is I kind of use this side to plan out
16:40
just brainstorm what meals I want to have on hand, what's going to be easy to make. So I wrote down
16:46
these are the things that we're going to be doing, homemade pizza, got some frozen pizza. I'll
16:52
usually put how many that we have, spaghetti, sloppy joes, frozen lasagna, enchiladas, tacos
17:01
chili, chicken alfredo, pasta, and skillet meals. So again, like I mentioned before
17:06
this is nothing too time intensive to make. They're not fancy meals. We will do that type of thing
17:15
but that's going to be some of our smaller grocery runs if there's something that we want to
17:19
pick up, like some chicken or maybe salmon or whatever and just make a bigger meal out of it
17:24
This is easy stuff that we can do throughout the week when we are really busy, and then the other
17:30
days we will grab something out. But I also note down here that I have things on hand to make
17:36
this for breakfast and for lunch. So I just like to write it on here to keep it at the front of my
17:44
mind, okay, this is what I have on hand. This is what I can plan out. And then this side is
17:50
weekly. I'll go through and take stock of, okay, what do I have for dinner? What do we have
17:56
going on that night? And this is where I'll kind of put the weekly meal plan. So that's just
18:02
how I kind of do it. That's what's working for us. now in this stage of life with craziness, with being out pretty much every night with sports
18:14
or practices or things like that. All right you guys, I hope that you enjoyed this video. This was
18:20
a different kind of video. I know I mostly share homeschooling tips and encouragement
18:25
curriculum reviews and things like that, but planning meals out and planning lunches and
18:32
dinners, that's all part of, you know, being a mom and being a homeschool mom. So it's
18:36
a big part of what we have to do. So I thought it would be fun just to kind of show you my process
18:41
show you just one of the occasions where we did a big grocery run, the meals that we're going
18:47
to make with it, things like that. So I hope that you will see that it's okay not to be super
18:54
fancy all the time. It's okay to use some of these things that are more convenient. It's okay
19:00
to do that type of thing when you're in different seasons. And we enjoy it. So we enjoy
19:06
the meals that we make, we enjoy having dinner together as a family, which we, you know, do most nights
19:12
And so, yeah, this is, this is it for us. If you did like this video, go ahead and let me know by
19:18
giving me a thumbs up and hit that subscribe button. If you want to follow along for future
19:22
homeschooling content, parenting, I sometimes share fitness-related stuff on here as well
19:29
and things like that. So I would love to have you stick around. Thank you so much for watching
19:33
I will see you next time
