Hi friends! Welcome to week two of the homeschool prayer challenge
0:03
Last week we studied 1 Corinthians 9 24 through 27 and prayed for strength, energy, and enthusiasm
0:12
to be intentional in studying the bible with our kids this year in our homeschools
0:16
I hope that you were encouraged last week and that you will continue to make this your prayer and make time for teaching and studying God's word
0:33
If you haven't already, make sure you log into your dashboard of the prayer challenge. This is not only where you'll be able to
0:38
print out your prayer and bible study notes for each week, but last week I also shared some of our favorite resources we have used for
0:45
bible study in our homeschool. And if you're not officially signed up for this free challenge, I'll put a link in the description below
0:51
so you can learn more about it. As we kick off week two, I want you to consider what are some of the difficulties you
0:57
struggle with as a homeschool mom. Maybe it's a nagging doubt that you're
1:01
doing enough for your kids. Or maybe you're trying to balance working from home and homeschooling plus trying to keep up with normal
1:09
household duties. Maybe you feel overwhelmed constantly. Perhaps you fall into the comparison trap
1:15
and it has a hold on you. Or friends and relatives just
1:19
don't understand your decision to educate your kids at home and you're always butting heads. Maybe no curriculum feels like it's
1:26
working right now and some days you consider throwing in the towel and just
1:29
sending the kids to public school. Teaching your kids different learning styles can just be so hard, especially when you're trying to
1:36
entertain a toddler at the same time. Does any of that sound familiar? Well, wherever your pain points are, you're not alone
1:42
So many of these things I struggle with too daily along with my attitude about them. But friends, I have
1:49
good news for you. Wherever you are experiencing weakness or hardship in
1:54
your homeschool right now, you are in the exact right place for the
1:58
display of God's power in your life. Just hear me out because this is a
2:02
transformative truth. In 2 Corinthians 12 7, Paul shares that he was given a thorn in his flesh. This weakness was something that Paul
2:13
three times for the Lord to remove to no avail. He explains that the
2:17
thorn was given to keep him from becoming conceited. And as the truth of how God works is revealed to him
2:23
we watch Paul change from distressed to blessed to delighting in what had once pained him. The change in Paul's attitude came
2:31
in verse 9 after he prayed. But he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect
2:39
in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so
2:44
that Christ's power may rest on. My power is made perfect in weakness. You see, God doesn't always use our
2:50
strength to showcase his power. In fact, it's typically in my strongest moments
2:56
when everything is going right that I forget just how much I even need
3:00
his presence in our homeschool. No, it's our weak moments and weakest areas of our lives in which we need to trust God the
3:07
most. When we have no clue as to how we will overcome a situation or have no answers that seem to satisfy us
3:15
this is when God's power can shine so convincingly. His power is so much more capable than our own
3:22
He wants us to trust him to allow him to be strong where we are weak. And friends, we have a very real
3:28
enemy who wants nothing more than to destroy our efforts in homeschooling and
3:32
raising our children to know and love their wonderful creator. But we can rest
3:37
in the fact that God is in ultimate control and nothing can thwart
3:41
his will and good plans for us. We don't always understand our struggles or
3:45
circumstances or see how they can be good. Why is it so
3:49
hard for my kid to learn how to read? What am I doing wrong? Why is doing schoolwork a constant battle? Why can't I find a math curriculum
3:56
that won't end the day in tears? Maybe this is just too hard. But as one
4:00
of my Bible study leaders says as a constant reminder, God is good and can be trusted. We have seen time and time again in
4:07
scripture where God does sanctifying work through trials of his people. And in Isaiah 55 8 we are reminded that God's ways are not like our ways
4:15
He is sovereign over all things and he is always at work in ways that our
4:20
finite minds can't understand. The important thing to remember fellow homeschool moms is that any trials and hardships we experience
4:26
as we homeschool our kids and really life in general, God can use to display
4:30
his power. And if the struggles cause us to lean into him and rely on him more, then that's a great work he's doing in
4:37
us. The enemy wants us to feel defeated but in our weaknesses we have an
4:41
opportunity to experience the same power that Jesus faced in his seemingly
4:46
weakest moment on the cross. What a privilege. Now I want to see God
4:50
move in my homeschool but to rejoice in hardships and weaknesses, I can't say that that's often the focus of my prayers
4:58
Now I'm not saying that we shouldn't pray for relief from our circumstances
5:03
Paul certainly did as did Jesus for that matter. But we need to be mindful of the
5:08
answer to our prayers and our attitude towards our situations. This requires diligence and prayer and daily intentional bible study
5:15
like you're doing with me in the series so we can have a different response when we're feeling afflicted. We can trust God more that he will help
5:23
us live by his perfect power. Whatever hardships you may face this week, remember that you are seen and loved by God. Go to him in prayer for
5:31
strength. He promises that his grace is sufficient for you. Let me pray for us
5:36
Sovereign Lord, I am so thankful that you are in control and that
5:39
no weakness will overcome me that you have not ordained for my good
5:44
You alone are good and trustworthy and it gives me so much comfort to know that
5:48
you know what's best for me. Thank you for the weaknesses in my
5:52
homeschool that keep me dependent on you. I pray that you will go before me in my
5:55
weaknesses and be glorified through them. I'm sorry for sometimes feeling discouraged in tough times. Your grace is sufficient for me. Help me
6:04
to have a content heart for the sake of Christ with whatever you allow me to face. I don't want to rely on my own strength
6:11
Help me to surrender my will and experience your perfect power in trials
6:16
You alone are what I need. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. All right friends, thank you so much again for joining me in
6:23
this journey of praying for our homeschools. Go ahead and check out the links in the description below to log into the
6:29
challenge dashboard and download your prayer and printables for the week. If you haven't already, set a reminder to log in and check for
6:36
new printables each week or if you're on YouTube just hit that notification bell
6:40
and get notified when I publish a new video which might also remind you. All right, these are the printables that you're
6:45
going to be getting this week. You will have the prayer. You will have
6:49
the space to read and reflect on the passage this week as well as a couple other daily
6:57
reminders to be in the Word. You have space to jot down your specific prayer requests. Reflect on how you saw God working in
7:06
your homeschool this week. And then finally the last page is your own prayers. So you have space to write down your own specific
7:15
personalized prayers, right? Because although the prayer that you get is a great prayer to be praying
7:22
throughout the week, you also want to pray continually. You want to make it your own. You want to let the Holy Spirit lead you in what you
7:30
are praying and how you're praying. It's my hope that these printables will
7:34
serve as a reminder to you to be in God's Word each day praying and seeking to keep Him at the center of your life and homeschool
7:41
Let me know how I can be praying for you this week and I would also love to know
7:46
how have you seen God work through weaknesses in your homeschool? Drop a
7:51
quick comment below if you'd like to share. All right, that's it for week two. I'll see you next week
