Hey friends. So it's a little after 5.30 a.m. It's Monday. And it's our first full day of homeschool for the year. So

sitting in my closet right now because I am going to put on my socks and my shoes head downstairs for a workout. And I'm just going to

take you with me today. We don't have anything really going on outside of home today, so we're

going to be at home, and I thought it would be fun just to take you with me. So let's go

So basement is a little bit of a mess right now

We've got the ping pong table out and a lot of junk in the back because we were cleaning

out one of our back rooms. But this is typically when I come downstairs for a workout, this is where I typically work out

And today we're going to be up front here doing some. weight training

So this was one of the things my husband really wanted to put in our basement when we finished

it. And it definitely comes in handy sometimes when I'm working out down here or we want to

watch a family video. So this is his baby right here. I'm trying to get no better routine

of waking up in the morning. I do my first five Bible study. I use the app to do that before I

come downstairs to work out. Monday and Wednesday, I'm usually down here doing some strength

training. I use less mills body pump. When I'm in training season for marathons, usually Tuesday

Wednesday, and Thursday I will run. Friday, I will hop on my spin bike and do another less mill

program, a spin program called RPM. So that's my typical routine. Again, I'm trying to get in a better

routine and get up early so I can get my workout done before we start for the day. It's probably been

a little over a month where I'm getting into this new groove. I used to work out at night a lot

but so far I'm liking having this start to my day. So I'm going to get everything loaded

and get my workout in and then we're going to continue on with the day

Okay, workout is done. It always feels good to get this done first thing in the day

And I really love Les Mills programs. If you're looking for something that you can do easily at home

they have so many different options for workouts besides just body pump. You will never get bored doing their routines

They are, you know, for beginners to advance, lots of different options from cardio, strength

training, their research backed, and they're great. So I highly recommend them if you're looking for a workout program that you can do at home

They also have a lot of pre-made programs that you can follow very easily. Okay, so next step, I'm going to go upstairs

I'm going to shower and get ready for the day. My kids are usually up early, so I'm thinking when I go upstairs, they're probably going to be

already working on some of their independent work. So let's just head on upstairs and see

Say good morning to them if they're up. So it might be a little noisy upstairs. We have some

fans going, a fire alarm on the stairs. We had some water damage and some interesting events last

week that we've got some fans going so that they can dry out our upstairs. So I apologize

for any noise. And I was right. Luke is up. He's my early riser. He's got homeschooled

planet open. Good morning, Luke. So Hugh is going to probably be working on some of his

independent work and girls are not awake yet. I'm going to go upstairs, get ready, see how they are

doing. And then we will come check in back down here. All right, so it's almost 8 o'clock

And I'm going to sneak into my office for a few minutes to just pray and do my devotion

real quick and a little bit of my Bible memory work. And then my plan is to start breakfast around 8 today and be eating hopefully by about 8 I don make breakfast every day A lot of days my kids do their own thing They make their own breakfast But today since it the first full day of

homeschool, I am going to make a special breakfast. But it is really important to just start the day

with prayer and Bible study. Today I'm going to do one of my devotionals that I love. It's New

Morning Mercies. And I'm going to, like I said, work on a memory

reverse. Typically, um, when we start our Bible study fellowship, this is when I'll work on

some of my Bible study questions and readings for that program. But today we're just going

to do it a devotional. I'm going to pray and then I'm going to head out and start making

breakfast for the kids. All right. We've got another one awake working on devotional and maybe some Latin

And I'm going to start making some breakfast. We are going to do

funfetti pancakes this morning for our first day of homeschooling. school, so I've got some ingredients on the counter and we're going to get started

Okay, so it is almost 9 o'clock. I'm a little bit behind schedule, which typically tends to happen. The kids are eating breakfast. I'm going to clean up the kitchen a little bit, and then I will probably have some breakfast. I sometimes I don't always feel like pancakes. Today, this is what I typically like to go to for breakfast. So I'm going to have some oatmeal, get some coffee ready

and clean up the kitchen. And then we will get started with the next thing on the agenda

Okay, so I've got my oatmeal and my coffee right here. This is my favorite coffee mug ever

It's an ember mug, and it is chargeable. It stays hot during the homeschool day

so I don't have to keep reheating my coffee in the microwave. I'm about ready to call all the kids together

We're going to be doing our Bible portion together of exploring countries and cultures

they're copying down a memory verse. They're going to be decorating their pages. And then after this, while they're finishing up

I'm going to be starting with my preschooler on what he's going to be working on today

So we're doing my father's world voyage of discovery, and on week one, we're going to be starting with a little activity for creation day. So this is what we're going to be doing next with him

We're going to do his language arts lesson. It is about a little after 10.30 right now

And we're starting this week, lesson three. So we are really loving this curriculum

We're going to be starting a little passage from Bambi. So it tells us

me exactly what we're going to need to do for this lesson. So day one, this is my teacher manual

So we're going to be doing some dictation. We're going to be working on spelling list

talking about some different prefixes and suffixes. We had started a chart on one of the first

days. So we're going to go through there. And it doesn't look like it's too bad today. So that's

what we're going to do next while Oliver is finishing up. And he is picking up his activity

right now, so let's get started. All right. So we just finished with our sixth grade learning language arts through literature lesson

It is 1110 right now. So it took us about, gosh, what time do we start? Oh, so probably about 20, 25 minutes, I think it was

So my son is pretty much done with the rest of this independent work and he's going to take a break

And while we were working, my daughters are reading and working on some of their independent work

So this one right here, she is doing her book basket time

so she is doing that and then we're getting ready to start their language arts. So when she is

finished, they are going to be working on the purple books. Let me show you today what we're going to be

doing. So we've already been doing these lessons for a couple of weeks. And today they're going to

start a book study. So they're going to have some more reading that they're going to do. And these

book studies, they kind of work on independently. This will be the first one that we've done

using this curriculum, but they do have some different questions and stuff to go along as they go through that study

But the lesson we'll do together today is going to be, they have an excerpt from Mr. Popper's Penguins

and then we'll be doing day one. So they will be reading, doing a little bit of narration, and they'll have some copywork, it looks like

we'll be working on their spelling list for the week and a little bit more copywork and working on

those spelling rules. Okay, so not too long of a lesson today for their language arts either

So I'm going to get both of my daughters over here. She's going to finish up her reading and then

We're doing pretty good with the schedule today. So lunch is what is next

I am going to this will be my lunch today I don always have these but they were on sale so I picked up a salad And then while we are eating lunch I going to turn on World Watch News We enjoy watching that when we can

It's a great Christian news program that's about 10-minute segment that gives news updates

And we just really enjoy it. So we're going to put that on and have some lunch. And then

Bible section. I X out the language arts, spelling English and math, because we're using different

curriculums for those. So we're moving down here to geography. And then we'll also have

Okay, so it is about 2.30. We just finished my father's world, exploring countries and cultures, geography, and our science

We are using properties of ecosystems today. We're going to do just a little bit of our BGA Press history lesson and then our BGA Press Bible

And it shouldn't take very long. I'm hoping to finish up. close to three, and then we are going to do a little first day of school tradition. So we're going to get

We just finished up with our heritage studies and a quick reading from our BJU Press Bible

And right now, I forgot to do this earlier, but each year I like to have my kids fill out this About Me sheet

Usually we do this on the first day and they're really fun to look back at. Later on, I just had a memory pop up the other day that showed some of their answers and things that they had filled out about four years ago

So they're always fun to look back at. So they're filling this out and then every year after our first day of school we go out to Menchies and get some Froyo

So they're really excited about that and we're going to go get some Froio

It is 318 right now. So we finish with everything for the day

And except for I was going to do our piano lesson with my little guy and we didn't get to that yet

And I will add that, again, this is kind of, I mean, it's a typical day for whenever we are going to be at home

But, you know, it's early August. Once September hits, we are going to have some afternoon practices

We will have Bible Study Fellowship that starts up on Tuesdays, and I will have some meetings to go along with that

We'll have co-ops on Thursdays. So this isn't necessarily what every single day is going to look like

and there is a lot of room for flexibility in the lesson plans, and I do have to make adjustments at times

But this was a fun first day. We got a lot of stuff done. I'm looking forward to our new curriculum, and we are looking forward to going out for ice cream now, right, guys
