0:00
Well, hi there. My husband took the kids to the park and so it's really quiet in here
0:04
So, I figured I would just hop on and we would chat a little bit
0:08
because I wanted to share with you a little bit about another curriculum
0:14
that I purchased that we're going to be using next year in our homeschool
0:19
So, let's go. My name is Sarah and I blog over at Blessed Homeschool and I'm really glad that you
0:34
found my channel here. I would love for you to hit that subscribe button and stick around
0:38
for more videos on homeschooling tips, curriculum, reviews, things like that. If you haven't been able to tell from some of the other videos and blog posts that I've done
0:48
we love My Father's World around here. This year, we used My Father's World All
0:53
Aboard the Animal Train with my four-year-old. He was three. He turned four this year. I love
0:59
the curriculum. And so, next year, he will be doing his second year of pre-K. And so
1:07
we're going to be using My Father's World Voyage of Discovery. This is not a sponsored video. I
1:14
purchased the curriculum because I love it and this is what we're going to be doing next year
1:17
So, we started homeschooling when my oldest son was going into kindergarten and we started with
1:24
My Father's World kindergarten curriculum. And my twin daughters were, they're two years younger
1:31
than him. So, when he was doing kindergarten, we were doing preschool and I didn't buy a separate
1:38
curriculum for them then because they were so close in age. They really just kind of followed
1:44
along to what we did. I remember printing off just some little morning time binder activities
1:50
and things like that, but they would just sit and listen to the stories. And then, anything that I
1:55
wanted to modify that I wanted them to do at their level, they just kind of followed along with us
2:00
So, this is going to be my first time using Voyage of Discovery from My Father's World
2:05
One thing that I think about preschool, even though this is my first time homeschooling preschool
2:09
is that it shouldn't be overwhelming. Okay. My little guy has a lot of energy and there's no way
2:16
we're going to spend hours doing school during the day. He wants activities that are fun
2:23
short. He likes repetition and just kind of having that pattern every day, which we found in My
2:29
Father's World this year. And he really loves it. You know, we need a curriculum that's going to
2:34
cater to those needs. Homeschooling preschool shouldn't be overwhelming. If it's overwhelming
2:39
you're doing it wrong. So, with My Father's World, I just buy the curriculum package and that's it
2:45
I don't have to buy anything else, supplement with anything else. That's totally up to you
2:49
if you wanted to do that either for preschool or any of your other grade levels. But the great
2:54
thing about this curriculum is that you can buy their complete curriculum pack and that's it. Now
3:00
when they get older, they have recommendations for math and language arts that you do have to add in
3:05
because they've got the family learning cycle where your entire family is learning the main
3:09
portion of the lesson together, the history, geography, science, Bible. You're doing that
3:14
stuff together, but then each kid is going to have their own math and language arts curriculum. But
3:19
for preschool, it's just by the voyage of discovery pack, that's what we're going to do
3:23
So, I love that. You know, now our curriculum that we're doing takes 30 minutes or less. And
3:29
on their website, you know, they don't recommend more than an hour. It's not going to take us more
3:33
than an hour to get this done every day, which I love. So simplify, simplify your homeschool as
3:37
much as possible. So my father's world is a Christian homeschool curriculum, and that
3:43
combines Charlotte Mason ideas, classical education, and unit studies. And they've got a
3:49
biblical worldview and also a global focus. Okay. They've worked to just make it really easy on
3:56
homeschool moms. They have a teacher guide that is very thorough. Everything you need is in there
4:02
So you don't have to do a lot extra to prep every day or every week for your homeschooling. So next
4:07
year, my older kids are all going to be doing exploring countries and cultures. You can watch
4:12
my video on that as well. If you're curious to see what's in that pack. And then my little one
4:20
you know, whenever he can join in and follow along with us there, I expect he's going to
4:24
and we're going to include him when we can. But I am the type of person who likes to have, you know
4:31
a plan, likes to have that structure. So I did purchase Voyage of Discovery to use with him
4:36
And I do plan on setting aside a little bit of time each day to work through this curriculum with
4:40
him. And then if he wants to join in with us on our exploring countries and cultures, he will
4:45
And there'll probably be a lot of things that he, he will do with us. So with the, uh, my father's
4:50
world family learning cycle, they've got three different programs, they call it. So the Discover
4:55
program is what my littlest one is in right now. And this really gives them the building blocks
5:00
that they're going to need for their future years of homeschooling. So if you've got a pre-K
5:04
through second grade kiddo, they would begin there. Okay. So that's where we started this
5:10
year with all aboard the animal train Voyage of Discovery. And then we will move into the
5:15
kindergarten curriculum next year. And which is my father's world from A to Z and then first grade
5:20
learning God's story, my older kids. So my oldest son will be in sixth grade and my daughters are
5:26
going into fifth grade and they're in the investigate cycle. And so they have four
5:32
different, um, curriculums. So they do one every year and they just rotate through. They all do
5:38
that core piece together with their own language arts, their own math. Once you get to the beginning
5:43
of the cycle again, they just repeat it, but they're older. So they go through it at a greater
5:49
depth and they're studying topics at a greater depth at a harder level. So that's how the family
5:53
learning cycle works. Oh, and then after the investigate cycle, when they get to high school
5:59
I'm in ninth grade, they move on to their declare programs. They do have a program for high schoolers
6:04
as well. If you want to take it all the way through those years. So in the Voyage of Discovery
6:09
program that we're going to do this year, we are going to just really work on academic readiness
6:15
learn, you know, my little one kind of already knows some of the alphabet numbers, but we're
6:19
going to learn more alphabet numbers. Um, we're going to be doing a lot of read aloud, um, working
6:25
on developing fine and large motor skills and things like that. But most importantly with using
6:30
this curriculum, we are going to be learning God's truth together, and I'm going to be teaching him
6:35
God's truth and how that applies to the different things that we're learning. I love how My Father's
6:40
World integrates their Bible lessons and different character themes into the activities that we do
6:47
and the things that we're learning. So in case you're curious, um, I do have my box of curriculum
6:52
here. I'm going to go grab it and then I'm going to show you what is inside so you can maybe decide
6:56
if it would be a good fit for you and your kiddo this year. Okay. So let's spin this around. Okay
7:08
It's a lot of fun stuff in here. Okay. In no particular order, um, we've got some lacing
7:15
and tracing activities, transportation counters, so some different counters, fun colors, cars, trains, all those fun shapes. We have geoboard, pegboard
7:33
God's 10 good rules. So the 10 commandments in 10 stories. Um, two for one looks like, um, songs
7:42
CD. I don't know how I'm going to play this. I'm going to have to see if I can find some of these
7:47
things on Spotify. That's a problem. My computer doesn't even have a, um, CD player anymore. So
7:53
we'll figure out what we're going to do with this. Um, pre-K activity cards
8:00
on the back include 72 activities to build thinking skills, reading readiness, large motor
8:05
skills, fine motor skills, math, and language development. So it looks like these are going to
8:11
um, be incorporated with some of the different activities that are included. Okay. There are
8:18
some different puzzle pieces, lacing. We have lots of little foam, durable, uh, soft pieces here
8:26
a little puzzle. Got a couple of these types of puzzles and my kids really love them
8:31
The sailor dog, a classic golden book, little golden book. Okay. The big book of things to spot. It's a really, uh, colorful
8:45
That looks like it's going to be a fun book. Crossroads of character, learning to make wise choices. So in here
8:58
it looks like, oh, you've got different stories for different character traits. So patience
9:05
um, they're not very long, about two pages each. Honesty with some pictures of real kids that I'm
9:11
sure we'll be able to connect with. Big thoughts for little people, ABCs to help you grow
9:19
What's in here? Okay. So it looks like we have a different page for each letter
9:25
a little short lesson, and it looks like each of these lessons have a couple of, um, questions to
9:34
ask to go along with it. And even a Bible verse to teach you about it. All right. And they're all
9:42
good, kind of good character traits. It looks like. So working on character growth is going
9:47
to be a good focus this year. What do people do all day? All right. And then again, we've got some
9:54
more puzzle and alphabet pieces and here are a lot of the pegs we're going to be using. Okay. So those
10:00
are the books and activities that are in here. Again, it's got, I'm not going to have to buy too
10:06
much extra. I mean, we're going to have extra things that we do and that we play with, but for this curriculum and what it tells me in our teacher manual, we're not going to need much else
10:14
So what else that came with it is, um, some student sheets. Okay. And you know, I know that
10:22
at this age, they don't do a lot of writing, um, or I mean, maybe some writing they're starting to
10:27
do some of that stuff, but you know, I know that at this age, they're starting to do a lot of
10:32
writing, um, or I mean, maybe some writing they're starting to do some of that stuff, but you don't do a lot of worksheet time. So you can see, you know, it's not all just like worksheets that they
10:41
have to sit there and work on. You've got some different puzzles or you've got some different kind of posters, paint cards, games, things like that are pretty, pretty typical, um, for this age
10:51
And it's all here. So you will be, um, we'll be able to use those as noted in the teacher manual
10:57
And then here is the teacher manual. Um, these are great. They are so thorough. Um, at the
11:05
beginning, you know, it always will just give you tips on how to use it and overview of the curriculum
11:14
And then when you get to the actual pages, it gives you preparation. So it'll tell you exactly
11:23
what you need to do to prepare. I know it's probably kind of hard to see, I'm sorry. Um
11:30
and then every week it's all laid out for you. So day one, what are we doing for our Bible verse
11:37
story and activity? Outside time, very important story time and educational toys. So it looks like
11:45
that's how it's broken up. And then we've got day one, day two, day three, there's a scripture
11:50
verse at the top. And, um, it talks about how you're going to incorporate the music
11:57
and just everything tells you step-by-step what you're going to have to do. So I don't have to
12:01
plan anything out. It's all here. And then each week also has notes that go along with it and
12:10
show you what you're going to need to do every day. All right. So that's all in there. Okay
12:17
So that is it. I'm trying to think if there's anything else I want to show you. Oh, in the back
12:22
of your My Father's World teacher's manuals, they always have a great book list. So sure
12:28
there's one in here. So lots and lots of books to help us in our library time that go by the
12:36
different themes that we're going to be using. So, um, really helpful. I don't even have to go in
12:40
and search out different book lists or pick out what are we going to, what books we're going to
12:44
read to go along with this unit. It's all there. So love that. Okay. So that's it. That's what's
12:50
in our kit. Um, what's in our Voyager Discovery Box. Really excited to start, um, this curriculum
12:56
even though we've used My Father's World for, I've used four of their different curriculums so far
13:02
So this one is going to be a new one to me. I'm really excited to give it a try. If you're
13:07
interested in learning more about their, um, other preschool curriculum, the one that I'm using right
13:12
now with my little one, make sure you go find that video and, um, he makes an appearance in it
13:17
He's just so cute. You don't want to miss it. And, um, I also have a video unboxing our Exploring
13:23
Countries and Cultures that you might want to take a look at. If you have kids that are third
13:28
grade through eighth grade, that might be starting the family cycle. So that'll give you a little bit
13:33
of an idea of the things that you'll be studying in there. If you like this video and want to see
