Hi friends. Welcome back to week six of the homeschool prayer challenge. Last week we studied John 330
0:06
and prayed for Jesus's presence to be increased in our lives, for us to move out of the way so that we can glorify Him in all we do
0:15
and for our kids to see Christ in us as we homeschool them. I don't know about you, but I certainly did not do this
0:22
perfectly this past week. I have so much growing that I need to do and fell short more times than I'd like to admit
0:30
having this focus, this verse to meditate on, this prayer to pray, really helped pull me back when I felt
0:36
my selfish tendencies kick in. There was a lot of conviction this week, which God so graciously gives us
0:42
So if you felt that way too, just know you aren't alone. We are all a work in progress, and by
0:48
continuing to be intentional each day about our relationships with the Lord, you will continue to
0:53
grow and bear fruit in what God has called you to do. I'm so happy you're here, and I'm praying
0:57
that focusing on just one area to pray on and study each week of the series has been manageable
1:02
and help you to draw nearer to the Lord and his will for your life in homeschool. This week
1:07
our focus is going to be praying for our husbands, also known as the homeschool principles. God
1:12
has called our husbands to this life of homeschooling as much as he has called us. We should be
1:16
praying for their roles as homeschool dads. So in reflecting last week on increasing Jesus in my life
1:27
more of him, less of me. I was thinking about how I so often get caught up in my responsibilities
1:32
as a homeschool mom that homeschooling can consume me. I hate to admit it, but I sometimes
1:37
allow homeschooling to take the place of time with my spouse, whether it's because I'm busy
1:42
gathering materials and planning learning activities, or my mind is occupied when I should be
1:47
focusing my attention on him. I can put so much thought and care into my kids that I take for
1:53
granted the relationship I need to nurture with my spouse. Ephesians 4 2 through 3 says be completely
2:00
humble and gentle be patient bearing with one another in love make every effort to keep the unity
2:06
of the spirit through the bond of peace gentle patient and loving does this reflect my attitude to my
2:12
spouse after a long day of homeschooling do I make every effort to keep unity in our marriage am I respectful of the role that God has called him to in our family and our homeschool These can again be convicting things to think about And of course
2:26
I fail daily. I imagine I'm not alone. Well, I hope I'm not alone. But oh, how important it is
2:32
to pray daily for our husband and to make every effort to nurture our relationships. The education
2:36
of our children is important to God, but so are our marriages. And we have to continually work on
2:41
them. The Holy Spirit will guide and lead us, but we also have to do our part. Not only does God
2:45
care about our marriage but as we live out our relationships daily our kids are watching they are
2:50
learning from us what it looks like to have our marriage that reflects god's image and i think that is
2:56
even more of a reason to stay mindful about our actions and attitudes as i think about how i need to work
3:02
on this here are a few suggestions that i thought of that might help you make those important connections
3:07
with your spouse after a long day of homeschooling so number one schedule time together this probably
3:13
sounds like a no-brainer. You've heard it often, but do you put it into practice. It helps me so much
3:18
to actually get this on my calendar. We try to schedule regular date nights to reconnect. You might try
3:24
to trade nights with friends so you can watch each other's kids so you can have a night out
3:29
or come up with some at-home date night ideas for a night in after the kids go to bed. You might even
3:34
plan a weekend away if you're able to. One of my husband and I's favorite times of the year
3:39
is when we get away for the Teach Them Diligently Home School Convention. The
3:43
convention is such a blessing for our marriage and also our homeschool and the
3:48
time we share together is priceless okay second idea make time for things that
3:53
your husband enjoys I admit I have a tendency to be selfish with my time and the
3:58
things that I like to do or I am mindful about spending time with my kids
4:02
learning about their interests but neglecting to connect with my husband it's so
4:06
easy to get comfortable and complacent but it's important to show an interest
4:10
in what our husbands enjoy whether that's asking about hobbies or finding ways to join together in something. A little effort can go a long way
4:18
Okay, number three, share about your day and leave the complaining out. It's easy to allow our
4:25
husbands to be the ones who bear the brunt of all of our complaints and problems. And no doubt
4:29
they can be a great support for us when we're feeling stressed out or need help with something
4:33
But let remember that we can cast our anxieties on the Lord It says that in 1st Peter 5 we don have to spend too much of our precious time with our husbands complaining or in a bad mood because of how the day went Certainly guilty of that Let fill our discussions and time together with things that are good and
4:48
lovely and not so much of things that worry us and frustrate us. Yes, there's a time and a place
4:53
for discussions about worries and frustrations, but if this has become more of a habit and a
4:57
mentality, it definitely might be something to work on. Number four, include your husband
5:02
in your homeschool. Now, if your husband works full time, this can be challenging, but just
5:05
remember that you're a team. If you are feeling too overwhelmed, be intentional about finding a way
5:11
that he can connect with your kids and their homeschool activities. This might mean working on a
5:15
specific subject with the kids once a week or leading their Bible curriculum or picking out some
5:20
books to reserve at the library, letting him do that. Showing your kids that you are a united front
5:25
when it comes to caring about their education and well-being is important. Talk with your husband
5:29
about your goals and desires for your homeschool and how you can work together in this area
5:33
And number five, pray together. Spend time in God's word with your spouse. One idea is to try to begin
5:39
each day in prayer together. You can even use these weekly prayers for your homeschool as a guide or a
5:44
starting point. Seek God's will for your life together, for your marriage and your family
5:49
You might also see if there's a Bible study would both enjoy doing together. For example
5:53
my husband and I really enjoy the Bible recap. It's an excellent Bible study and we spend
5:59
some great time reading scripture and discussing passages together using this plan. Please
6:03
Asty's 412 tells us that a court of three strands cannot quickly be broken. When Jesus is truly
6:09
that third partner in your marriage, it will be strengthened and meaningful. Okay, so those are
6:14
just a few ideas that came to my mind, but I know you guys will have some great ideas too. So
6:18
make sure to leave them in the comments of this video. To wrap this up, how should we pray for
6:23
our husbands this week? When praying for your husband this week, make sure to pray over his role
6:28
in your homeschool and in leading your family. Pray that you will be united in decisions you need to make
6:32
concerning your kids and your homeschool, that together you and your husband will live out the gospel
6:37
and instill a heart for Christ in your kids. Ask God to fulfill your husband's role as a spiritual
6:42
leader in your family and seek God's will for each of you working together to raise and teach your
6:47
children. Praying for our husbands will strengthen relationships, both our relationship with God
6:52
and with our spouse Let be intentional this week to pray for our husbands and also make time to nurture our relationship outside of our busy homeschool Let me pray for us Heavenly Father thank you for the gift of marriage and for the blessing of my husband
7:08
May we be a united team that glorifies you and reflects the gospel to a lost world
7:13
Forgive me for the times I have made an idol out of my homeschool and placed it above you
7:17
and above my relationship with my husband. I desire to be a godly wife and I need your help daily
7:23
Help me support and encourage my husband and give us opportunity. to show love to one another throughout our busy weeks. Be with us as we work together to homeschool our
7:31
our children and honor you. Guide us in all we do. Go before us and defeat any plan of the enemy to divide us
7:37
Draw my husband close to you and be with him today and always. In Jesus' name I pray, amen
7:43
Friends, thank you, thank you. Thank you again for joining me and praying for our homeschools
7:48

8:05
And you'll also get the week six Bible study journal pages from my workbook, keeping God at the center
8:11
So just like with every week for week six, you guys will have the prayer at the top of the page
8:17
And then you'll have a short little bit broken down for each day. So there is a memory verse, and you can write that out and a little reflection question on that for Monday
8:27
And then for Tuesday and Wednesday, again, just some reflection questions. Thursday, a little question there
8:36
And then for the rest of the days that week, Friday and the weekend if you want to
8:41
you can jot down any specific prayer request, reflect on how you saw God working in your homeschool this week
8:46
